Our lack of a stellar PG along with our wealth of talent on the wing, got me thinking a little...
What do you guys think of this lineup:
G- Hardy
G- Horne
F - Mase
F - DJ
C - Brownlee
The center position can be played by JB I, JB II, or Evans in this lineup without any real change to the dynamic.
Offensively, the PG duties could be shared by DJ (primarily) and Hardy. DJ did a great job creating last year in the absence of a true point, and Hardy could lend a hand. I'd like to see Hardy spot up or come off screens more, though, unless he proves to be able to shoot off the dribble (so rare in college). DJ is especially good at driving and kicking to set shooters on the perimeter, and he'd have four options with this lineup. If he chose to keep it an pullup or finish, the weakside would be a party for our jumping jacks to cleanup hard.
With JB I or JB II on the floor, all five players are legitimate threats from deep. In this lineup, DJ would probably have to be defended by a four--which is essentially a free pass up the floor--or force the other team to go small--in which case DJ would eatup the smaller player.
