SJU is primed for a jump - Rothstein

A year ago, St. John's roster was in purgatory.

Now, the Red Storm resembles a unit that is on the rise in the Big East.

St. John's hasn't won any games with its revamped talent base, but it's looking more and more like the 8-24 record that Chris Mullin had in his first year as head coach at his alma mater is set to be nothing more than an aberration.

I think we can finish 5th in league, which is great for rebuilding year 2

5th in League 'should' mean tournament.

That would be fantastic...a lot to ask....the whole league seems to be playing transfer game well.

This might be one of the hardest seasons if not the hardest season to predict in recent memory. We have so many new players and so many young players that our range for wins is pretty large. I think we will have so much talent that we should be good put we will also be young and inexperienced so I can see us being a .500 team also. An NIT bid/bubble team would be a very nice second year and that is my hope.

A lot of focus will be on in-game coaching and sideline development this year. Last year was the freebie. I'm expecting Mullin and staff to coach this talented crew up. Time will tell.

I would be thrilled with that. Very happy with recruiting. That kind of season or better would definitely feel we are on the right track.

My expectations are 8th or 9th in the league with around 15 total wins.  Still a year away

Nova and Xavier are clear cut alphas of the conference next year. I think Creighton is poised to be #3. Beyond that I think it's fairly wide open.

Seton Hall, Providence, and DePaul should all be pretty bad too.

The BE is tough from top to bottom w the exception of DePaul. The question is, who are we going to jump. We're still young . But we have talent and are deep. Hard to predict.

Think we finish above Marquette?

I think Butler and Seton Hall  are in that next tier with Creighton

I'm fairly certain that Whitehead is leaving. If he doesn't then I'd agree with you. Butler probably a step down from Creighton but in that next mix with Marquette.

If everyone is back for SHU, they will be right there near the top of the league

Seton Hall board is now convinced Whitehead returns. Also convinced they are going to land Taurean Thompson who is a solid big man recruit. I think they are top 3 next season with Whitehead.

Great news for the conference if he does return. Big East might have 3 teams in top 10
