Nice.  Hopefully this kid can turn his life around.
People make mistakes, question is is he willing to work hard and listen to the ataff to redeem himself?

It would make sense that Williams, Mussini or Alibegovic might want more PT elsewhere, and they'd transfer so that they'd have a better chance of landing a position in some relatively new basketball market.

If you're Alibegivic, I wouldn't be surprised if the staff explained that if things should not go as you expect them to, you can transfer, sit out a year, study, and leave college with two degrees. That's the kind of player who should appreciate that opportunity.

As for Zach Brown he's a huge talent and teams/scouts really cooled on him with some of his personal issues but all of that has been cleared up. Kudos for staff staying with him throughout and staying true.

I'm hoping for the best for this kid, he looks crazy athletic for his size. But anyone who's coached sports at a certain level has had their heart broken by a kid just like this- a generally good kid, usually from a tough family situation, you talk to him one on one and look him in the eye and he'll say the right things...but just cant stay out of trouble. He's almost never the instigator of the trouble, usually just along for the ride and too much of a knucklehead to extract himself from the situation before it goes sideways. Then promises it will never happen again. Rinse, wash, repeat.

I hope this kid is different. But he looks very familiar.

Wow the staff is doing a tremendous job bringing in talent. This is they type of move programs like ours need to make. Hamilton was probably the last big man we landed who was this highly regarded.

There is a lot of time between today and when The Big Man steps on campus as an enrolled student. Everyone here has already stated he needs to stay clean. That's going to be a challenge. At this point, its early but very encouraging the level of talent the staff, Matt, is bringing in. Good luck Zach Brown, hope you do well.

Kid seems like an absolute stud. If he turns his life around which many people feel he is doing we will have a guy who would be a 5 star top rated center. If he fails to get his life together then we won't have lost out on much. A big with this type of talent is worth the risk especially because I trust the staff went above and beyond to look into him. Damn, that video was rough. This kid clearly had a really difficult upbringing. Hopefully St. John's gives him the support he needs so zach flourishes and we win some games. His ability at that size is undeniable.

Basketball-wise reminds me quite a bit of Brendan Haywood of UNC.   His story sucks from
front to back.  How's he different than Rysheed?  Well he committed today and also acknowledged culpability for his past.  I think it's a good start.  We have a year to see what he does and he rest is up to him.  He definitely has size and talent.   I've seen a lot of guys written off for trouble. Not all are the same but that remains to be seen.  Definitely still like the pickup.  Real big time size and talent.

When Lavin brought Jordan here, we had no knowledge of any sort of criminal record if there was one. This kid wasn't just involved in one incident. It's worse, because now we're going to hear about it for 15 months.

I'm in favor of giving the kid a chance to life around, and I'm also in favor of giving Jordan that same chance. As should anyone who is jumping up and down over today's news.

Lavin was forced to give Rysheed 8 million chances because they had no depth or talent behind him.  Won't be the same at all now.  Easier to take a chance on a guy when you aren't putting all your eggs in one basket.
