Ellison and Sima are awful. Freudenberg looks scared for some reason. Yakwe has the worst hands of any big man on the team.

Teams are gonna figure this out soon that if you shut down Ponds you beat us. We might not get 8 wins.

This is what I've been saying. Hire a fckn tough guy big man coach.!

I think a seasoned x & o bench coach preferably a former head coach is what is needed. Not really sure there is such a thing as a  "big man coach"

This is no disrespect to Greg St. Jean but there are just some things he won't know due to lack of experience. Big East is tough place to learn on the job.

I disagree. Our bigs need a coach to get in their arse, all summer. I don't even think the current staff worked with them

Is there any merit or basis for that claim?

Agreed. The St Jeans Red Storm not a place to learn on the job with new head coach

I think he's a fantastic basketball mind but there are thousands of game scenarios that a seasoned guy knows how to handle, react, or react quicker.

Mussini also admitted that looking past Delaware State was part of the problem. #sjubb

Well what's worse? The staff did work with them all summer, or they didn't?

First off, how do you know this staff wasn't working hard with the players in the offseason?
Secondly, we all overestimate how much time the coaches are even allowed to see the players during the smmer months.  It's like 8 hours a week or something.
Guys improve by working out themselves or going to camp and hitting the weight room.  Teams can't really practice tI'll after school starts.

The team is young, and in some instances just not that talented.

Lovett didn't play well tonight imo.  He shot the ball decent, but I brought a guy to the game who hadn't seen the team yet this season and he said "I thought Lovett was a point guard?  I haven't seen him penetrate or create a shot for anybody but himself."
And that was true tonight.  He needed to drive and collapse that zone around him, and he kept to the perimeter and looked to spot up.

Sima, Owens and Yakwe needed to have monster games and they were nonfactors or had a negative effect on the game.  We had a considerable height and altheticism advantage in the front court.  And our bigs displayed awful hands, and the guards generally didn't look to create for them with any consistency.

Yakwe looked especially lost out there to me.  Hes looking around so much it made me dizzy.  From the stands it looked like he was over thinking on both ends of the court, afraid to make the "wrong" play, rather than playing on instinct.

As for the staff, I think they needed to work the ball inside, and they let the team settle for long jumpshots.
This should've been a game where Lovett had 10+ assists.
Very disappointing performance.

Tonight is on the players. Coaches can yell and scream to play hard but that has to come within.

I'm not letting them off the hook.
But it's Mullin's fault Yakwe can't hold on to the ball or lay-in a simple putback?
Richmond's fault Ponds shot 1-9 from 3?

The kids have to make shots and play D.  They did neither tonight.

Is their fault that they didn't get any better. Just my opinion

Had a work conflict and couldn't watch this game.  Based on the score, God am I glad.  Absolutely inexcusable loss.  This board won't be fun for a few days, and that is completely understandable.  Staff needs to get this s*** together now.  I could deal with last year.  Hell I could deal with playing competitive games in the Bahamas even though we shouldn't be freaking losing to ODU.  But Delaware St at home.  Jesus.
You are right-the board won't be fun for a while but the shock and pain will then wear off and the same old misguided cockeyed optimism will return.

Coaches don't have to yell or scream. How about calmly saying let's stop taking bad 3's. Let's get the ball inside. Let's drive to the basket.
I didn't see the other coaches screaming.
