I thought this was a great game by our whole team.  Everyone contributed, and we didn't win by hoisting a lot of 3s.  This was just a regular grind it out kindve game.
And I thought especially in the second half that the refs didn't do us any favors.

Wouldve liked to see better passing.  Too many of our buckets were one on one, fallaway jumpers.  But we made enough of them to win.  So on to the next.

Also, I love that kid Chrabascz.  His stat line does not indicate how good he was tonight.  Butler runs their offense through him a ton, and he makes good decisions seemingly all the time.  Can't believe he only had 4 assists, as he seemed to be involved whenever they scored.  If hockey assists counted he'd have a boatload.

Kid is legit. He's a 6'7, 6'8 230 lb bull point forward. Great court vision.

Move over Barkley, Ponds is the best freshman I'be ever seen at St. John's.  The control he has on the ball is incredible.

Was just trying to think who was better than him as a frosh

Harkless

Do we have a chance ?

Tony, start the DePaul thread the same way. "Do we have a chance?". For superstition purposes

No. Harkless more erratic.  Ponds more consistent.

Weren't Harkless Sampson and Jordan all Big East Freshmen of the Year?   I think Ponds is better than all 3 at the point.

My thoughts exactly.

This. Harkless had some great highlights  but Ponds is night in, night out and very poised.

They do miss Mussini.  Need his shooting off the bench.

Getting Bashir going is huge.  If Yakwe can make big strides they can have a solid conference season and build momentum into next year.

The early losses will be hard to overcome in terms of any post season even if they can put together some good conference wins.

Bashir was very very good tonight.  He just needs to learn to take an extra dribble so he doesn't get called for travels.  They were tough to watch.

Yes, was there and it was a full house and a raucous crowd (who da thunk it at a St John's game?). Even old people can make noise when given something to be excited about. I had an aisle seat and had to catch 3 people from falling. We have an older crowd and they really should have hand rails for walking up and down those steps to the seats.

Amazing atmosphere tonight. Really exciting win, best on campus since Mullin was playing.

Come out hard again on Sunday.

Butler on paper wasn't #13 scary but they are really well coached. Also talent on this team is better than people give credit. Starting to gel and still far from as good as it can get.

Ponds is the best freshman we've had since Malik Sealy. I can't believe I'm gonna write this, but he may even be better than Malik.

Not much. The Johnnies only had their biggest win on campus in 33 years  :)

Ponds was money. Ellison and Owens had some huge rebounds down the stretch. Lovett made some big shots too. Williams gave some good minutes again.
