To get back to the game, Providence shot 14 for 18 from deep in the 2nd half. You are going to get your ass kicked when that happens, and we did. It's tough to not be affected when everything the other guys throw up is going in.

Even before that, we did not play with an edge all game. Team lacked defensive intensity, and that was the deadest sellout crowd I have ever been in on campus. Even though Yakwe played fine, it hurt to have Owens sit for the last 15 minutes of the first half, and they were beating us down court all night for easy looks. We could have taken charge in the first half, but we didn't and then they went crazy in the second half.



Guess we'll know more today about Shamorie's status, but we've got to pick ourselves up and get ready for Sunday and Wednesday. Disappointing loss, no doubt, but our season is in front of us.

I did attend. Wish I didn’t . The effort and results have been the same for 2 and half seasons. The big boy part of the schedule is here. No more powerhouse teams like Grand Canyon.
We don’t play defense. We take terrible shots . We make no in game adjustments. We don’t guard shooters. Do we even recognize shooters? We don’t change defenses. That is not one game. That is most games.
Are things better then they were. Yes. Do we have a compent big east staff? 90 points plus AGAIN!
Amar missed 3 3’s. How many did Marvin and Trimble miss? How can you win like that?
This is not over reaction. I was shocked (and happy) when we won a few big east games last year.
Our team is better then last year. We will win some games. Their is a problem that needs to be fixed.
I am a fan and will continue to go to games . But I am not going to New Jersey. Happy new year

This team was living a lie for over a month without Marcus, last night they were exposed point blank.

I don't blame anyone on the roster for last night bc quite simply if they're undermanned without Marcus against someone like Providence they have a very thin margin of error.

The offense is stagnant, the defensive ball pressure isn't the same and the overall moxie of the team lags without the guy, we need him back quick before the boat sinks between now and next Wednesday.

I haven't seen CA that packed in a very long time and it was an opportunity wasted as there was not one instance where the crowd could get behind the team. It was hot and packed to the gills, it was literally overflowing with people. Yes Nova, GTown and Duke will be terrific crowds but Marcus' prolonged injury is now costing them games and new fans. CA won't see a Thursday night holiday week crowd like that again this year.

We had our chances in the 1st half to open a good lead and didn't capitalize. We let them control the game the rest of the way. Also what's up with Providence fans at Carnesecca? It sounded like there was a good sized contingent there when they were stretching their lead in the 2nd half. I stepped away from the TV and heard a pretty loud ovation from the crowd and thought it was SJU coming back only to realize it was their fans celebrating another made 3.

Ponds got schooled and hopefully it was a learning experience, Cartwight did whatever he wanted in his first game back.  Great job by Cooley.  If Ponds is injured hopefully it will be short term, if we are missing him and Lovett for any length of time the season is over.  Knee twinges are unpredictable, could be a few days or, like Lovett, it could be a month.  CAN WE PLEASE COVER THE OUTSIDE AND REACT TO OFF THE BALL SCREENS.  Anyone who can shoot at all would shoot 50% against the defense exhibited  last night.

Ponds and Simon did a real bad job of closing. First time I had noticed Simon doing this and it was in the 2nd half and might have been out of frustration. Ponds and Lovett has been guilty of this for 2 years. Being the team's best player is not an excuse for lack of effort on defensive end.

Ahmed constantly turns his head and has no idea where his man is until too late. Not an effort thing with him but blockhead thing. Yes Ponds got dinged up but it was no coincidence both Ponds and Ahmed were taken out together when they were.

I’m still a fan but I am tired of spending thousands of dollars traveling going to games to watch sloppy uninspired bad fundamentals basketball.

Couple times Yakwe closed hard. I actually noticed it because no one else did.

At this level of basketball if you give up open shots like we did last night, you would be lucky if your opponent doesn't shoot the lights out. We were giving up shootaround type shots yesterday, and they shot a shootaround type percentage

Look at the Arizona State game. They shot the lights out the 1st half because our defense was lazy. In the 2nd half we clamped down on D and they started missing shots. It's not rocket science.

They made the open ones and also made the contested ones. Again, the defense was horrible, we gave up a lot of open shots, but Providence also couldn't miss.
