Creighton Game 1
« on: January 02, 2018, 07:08:42 PM »
Early spread I'm seeing has St. John's as a 12-point underdog tomorrow night at Creighton. #sjubb

Justin Simon: “Those are probably two of the top guards in the Big East. It hurts to not have them out there. Our game has to be taken to a higher level [without them]. We talk about everyone their their game to the next step. We have to go out and bring it.” #sjubb

Scouting report on St Johns must be "wear these guys out". McDermott will press, run to set up the three, substitute, and we will be worn out for the final five minutes of the game. We will fight and play to the end, but physical exhaustion will be the a big factor.

Which of any of the walk-ons has potential to see some light?

If we're playing walkons on the road in that gym, game's already over.

Playing at Creighton is like going into a buzzsaw. Going there shorthanded could be a bloodbath.

Have heard he is being cautious with second injury to same knee & will play when he feels ready. With no structural damage, I guess he still doesn't want to jeopardize his "play for pay" potential,  wherever that is.

Looks like staff expected Ponds to play against SH and was surprised he didn't.

This is not Creighton with McDermott or Watson and Patton. They have some nice 3 star players and a great coach but we’re in big trouble if it’s a bloodbath.

Their homecourt advantage is real. They are a top 25 caliber team for a reason.  SHU is a better matchup for us. You act like we should be competitive with Creighton without 1 or 2 of our best players on an already shorthanded roster. Maybe, but odds are it's not a close game.

We're due for an upset victory.  Think it happens tonight.

Creighton isn’t Duke. I think we’re hungry and I think we won’t be intimidated on the road after playing in front of thousands of people from New Jersey.

Johnnies take this one 75-66. Justin Simon gets to the rack at will tonight and scores a career high 25 and records his first triple double also grabbing 12 boards and dishes out 10 assists.

Check your stove you may have left a few gas burners on. Also open a window.
