Give Simon a break, the kid is playing out of position and just played all 50 minutes of a double overtime victory on Wednesday, and played all 40 today. He won the game for us against Butler. He plays hard on both ends of the floor and will be a big piece on next years squad.

Simon's been a great addition.  You can absolutely play him against most teams (if not all) on the wing with Clark as the 4.  If you have two guards that can handle and make shots it leaves Simon to do what he does best; defend, rebound, run the floor, penetrate, occasionally take some of the ball handling responsibilities to free up others and be all over the court.

All of which said he throws a shit ton of mindless passes and he does it every game and he should stop.

Simon had been my favorite player this year.  He single handedly transformed our defense this year.  Hopefully everyone comes back.  I might actually look forward to a season for the first time in a long time.

Agreed, but he should not play the point if we can ever fine one (or Ponds turns into one). Too much out of control and does not have the handle.

Obviously happy we have Simon and appreciate his multiple assets. That said, I agree with Fun re: need for him to reduce the number of forced passes and highlight reel degree of difficulty plays at inopportune times often.  From the time he got here, his rep was a guy gifted with great athleticism, solid defense and slashing ability. He was never viewed by most evaluators as a PG with a solid handle or a guy with a great deep stroke.

On the other hand, he has a few years left to refine his game and reduce unforced errors. I doubt, despite the Chris/Mitch shooting coach theories,  that he will ever be a very good perimeter shooter. His handle may improve a bit, but at end of the day he may still be a stat stuffer, great athlete, solid defender and key component of the team, just not a PG. Great to have him in any event!

He's not Tracy McGrady and I'm okay with that.  Kid plays with a lot of heart and has been a joy to watch.

+1
Faults aside he is absolutely a starter on a contending BE team.

Every player is playing out of position.

Simon deserves no criticism. We went into the season with 2 guards. What team does that?

Was told Bryan Trimble Jr. was available. It was a coach's decision. #sjubb

Here's what someone said, per attending the game....  Sounded like Trimble was pissed for being yanked.

I was at the game and after Trimble got pulled in the first half 45 seconds later Coach told him to go back in and Trimble refused to go in. On the other side Justin Cole came in the 2 half and played a heck of a game on defense for them. #sjubb

I can't believe that.

We win today if Simon was just bad instead of trash.

Did anybody call your boyfriend trash after this outing in a losing effort?

    BUTLER L 70-45    30   0-12   .000   0-3   .000   2-4   .500   3   3   0   2   3   3   2

I was able to conduct my entire online affair with the rectangle in a dignified (ok, occasionally dignified) manner without once trashing his teammates. Take a lesson from me son.

He's playing 40 - giving his all - and has had an overall outstanding 1st season for us.

You owe Garfunkel an apology.

Why didn't we attempt the half court heave down 4 with 3.8 remaining?

WOW! maybe opens another schollie Trimble ain't good enough to pull that shit. He ain't no Scottie Pippin. Was going to speculate maybe he gained more wait. Seems with this program guys who need to lose weight never do and guys that need to gain weight don't either.Seems like our strenght and conditioning coach alternates between Orson Wells and Twiggy.

He ain’t even a Chris Obekpa.

Let me know when Ponds gets 10 turnovers and I'll gladly give his game the same description. Do you know how absurd TEN turnovers is? Providence was letting him bring the ball up uncontested too. He made at least two dozen horrible decisions.

Hasn't happened.  He had 8 against Marquette. I recall Jordan had 9 once in that Msg tournament in the game immediately following when 3'lo had the 4 point play and Dom stole the ball and dunked on that big oaf's head.

10 is probably on the short list of all-time bad.

Clearly Simon forced some passes but w/o Ponds the scoring options are limited and they were taking away Simon's drives. Also when Ponds plays you have two ball handlers where as w/o Ponds you were down to one. Also even though I like Clark as a player he is the worst guy to throw a pass to because he never comes to the ball. I think I mentioned this the game Ponds had 8 TO's.

Simon has provided stability to this program.  I’m very happy with his gMe which is still evolving.

If Trimble doesn't mouth off to coach, we woulda beat the almost BE champ on their home court on senior day.  That would have been amazing for us.
