Great first win. Heron and LJ are the basketball equivalent of duck tape and we have ourselves two brand new rolls. They fix most of our issues and plug a bunch of holes. Rebound, defend, pass, bring the ball up, athletic, long, strong, and SCORE.
Ponds looked like Ponds. Dixon is quick as hell with the ball and seems like he has good body control at the rim. Kinda slow release but he can shoot for sure. 20 minutes of energy and looking to score is what we need from him off the bench.
Clark to me is too valuable to have him try to guard around the perimeter like Ponds, Simon, Heron, and LJ can. To me, he should let their center catch the ball 25 feet from the hoop instead of hanging on him and picking up cheap fouls. His offense will be steady all year but I hope he starts to establish himself at the rim early in games.
Simon is the prototypical elite role player. I think it will take him some time to fit in with this group and the abundance of wing scorers but once he does his impact will be tremendous. Rebound, defend, distribute, attack the rim.
Keita gets a redo for me, never got a chance to get going.
Don’t love Trimble but if he can buy in to 15 minutes a night, playing tough defense and taking good shots than he can have a solid role. I want to see Williams get a chance to get comfortable. Think Roberts will be a keeper who might struggle early.
