For all I know Mullin did a good job, he literally made the NCAA tourney and only like 16% of teams make it so that’s good, all I said was he was never even in BE play because he was mouthing because we were 0-2. Mullin didn’t even get fired so he must’ve done something right, I’m always positive because I like to get my hopes up and get crushed, I was estatic about the WVU win and Arizona win and crushed by the Vermont and Butler loss, the Arizona St loss just happens. I’ve never heard of Chris Mullin before I started following St Johns, which is pretty sad of me but seems like he was an amazing player and was trending up as a coach each year, so why did he step down?
I became a fan and probably went to St. John’s because of Chris mullin. He is considered our best player, he played on the dream team, and I think he is one of the NBA’s 50 best players.
As a coach, this man didn’t run his huddle, barely talked to his team, and rarely called timeouts. Basically he did nothing. In 4 years I never saw him correct anyone or discipline anyone.
Mullin hired a terrible staff. Slice- was paid for 5 years even though he was only here 1 year.
St. Jean- was hired at 23 years old to run the team. He ran practice. Basically he coached and prepared the team. For the most part by himself.
Mitch- also a hall of famer. Did nothing. Occasionally he would grimace at games. Was paid full salary but was only there half the time.
Matt- full time recruiter. Some say he was a really hard worker others say he wasn’t. We had talent. 4/5 talent.
Mullin, with out looking up. Maybe 5 players graduated. Probably 10/15 left the program. Some quit, transferred, or went pro. 0 players went to the NBA. We had a 4 star PG that just quit before the big east part of the schedule. Where else does that happen?
During games- our hero didn’t coach. When he payed attention he was either crying to the referees or challenging the other bench to a fight.
St. John’s has a history of winning. Our last coach was around 30 games over .500 in 5 years of coaching. Mullin was 20-59. In the last 3 years in the big east tournament we lost by an average of 40 points.(that’s from memory, I think it’s more) Mullins teams have given up 90 plus points probably 30 times. We gave up a 100 probably 10 times. Most of the 59 losses were complete blowouts.
