Nova 1/28
« on: January 26, 2020, 12:19:07 PM »
Win this game and season is back on. That would make a bunch of people cry. It’s still true.
Nova is very soft. They are not going to like our pressure defense. If we some how shoot they ball well. We can win.

The Johnnies NET went up 15 spots from 81 to 66 and KenPom is higher than in the beginning of the season at 68, you beat Nova Tuesday and it jumps another 6-8 spots and you are back in the tourney “talk”.

Forget the tourney stuff for now...... would just be a huge win at this point of the season and given the Butler and Hall games it would be nice to finish off a top 10 team.  Hope LJ and Heron realize they need to be the alphas in the offense for this team to go.

I agree...I’ll be there and looking forward to watching us play well and hopefully come away with a W.....at this point it’s win every 4 minutes and let the chips fall as they may...

Which Nick Rutherford shows up? He’s the key to beating a top team like Nova. He has to be smarter on d. If LJ and Rutherford are deep in foul trouble, we have no chance. We need Rutherford to set the tone on d, and frustrate the hell out of them + LJ has to continue to believe aggressive offensively.

After LJ and Heron, we need more guys to step up offensively. Who will it be vs Nova?

Dunn and Greg Williams need to have good games. Never saw Williams that confident shooting from the outside.

This thread showcases the delusion our fanbase has been inflicted with for decades.

Nick has played well in the biggest games this season, such as Arizona and Butler, he wheeled the comeback of butler pretty much by himself, needs to keep playing tight defense and steals will come, he has been getting some questionable calls against his defense lately.

We are 2-5 in conference. We lost to Butler by 2 points. We played Seton hall close. If we would have won either game we would currently be in most brackets. That is not delusion, that is fact. We will probably be a 5/6 point under dog to Nova.  Tuesday is winnable.

Additionally, while the big East is very strong this year, outside of the top 5 or so, it’s currently unclear to me who the next 1-2 in the tournament would be. While this St. John’s team certainly has its flaws, I could also see us finishing in 7th (like last year) which would put us on the bubble (like last year).

Edit to add, we have 2 wins in conference and have only played 3 home games so really only one behind where I would have hoped. Plus considering 2 of those home games were against seton hall and butler, who are both top 15 teams, I don’t think that conference record is really that surprising. And this team could certainly end up on the bubble.

I agree. The calls have been tough against him, but you’re a 5th year senior. Gotta know when to cut the shit.

Actually 2-6 in conference, but hopefully 3-6 after Tuesday...if they win Tuesday and then win at home against Georgetown. I’ll definitely start to get excited....

Certainly all of us have issues around here but two things we almost universally never do is bemoan officiating (Clockgate an exception) or cry woulda, coulda, shoulda after close defeats (Clockgate an exception). It's as if BMM is from another world, not just Arkansas, the way he complains about calls. Seems so foreign here.

Samuels could be out for Nova as he missed the 2h vs Providence and was due for an MRI. Nova would only be 7 deep if he is out. Antonie must be in Dog house there.

This week could change the whole season.....if they could pull off these back to back wins to get to 15-8 4-6 in Big East i would assume our NET would jump inside the top 50 and we would be on the right side of the bubble and control our own Destiny. Need to get the big one tomorrow and get a Top 10 win.

3 shot at a huge home win in conference; first two were very close.  would definitely be nice to get over the hump

Not sure why we can’t have some hope and you need to make a joke out of it? Guess that is what get you through your day. We root for same team can’t we hope for good things? Exactly what is wrong with this board people want to see failure and have accepted it.
