Seeing the Big East how does our young talent compare?

You've had the opportunity to see just about everyone in the Big East so far... how do you feel about our young guys in comparison?

Do we get better next year?

Think our two freshmen are absolutely gonna be solid BE starters during their career. Our sophomore has shown he can be an all BE type player. If he returns he’ll be 1st team preseason all BE. That’s pretty good when looking at young talent.

The recruiting class doesn’t look like much of an immediate impact but if Pinzon can provide similarly to Wusu this year at the 1-3 that would be big. Can the combination of Drissa and Stanley contribute more than Torro? Sadly that actually seems hard not to accomplish.

Posh and Dylan are excellent so we will almost certainly be better next year if we keep most of the roster intact.

Posh has conference POY potential if he can play under control and stay healthy. Dylan is my favorite player.

Posh and Dylan look like strong pieces. As freshman, I think they stack up competitively to other freshman in the BE.

The jucos are where we have the biggest problems. They’re like freshmen. Cole and Moore are not ready for this. Both could get there with a strong off-season, but not being able to count on them consistently is why we’re 3-7.

We don’t have bigs (not a new thing) and I know the point has been brought up that they’re aren’t any. Yet we’re facing a team called Utah Valley, and they’ve got a 6’11 kid on who is averaging 17 and 15.

It’s also why we are probably at or around the same record as last season with Figueroa and Heron. That group won 5 BE games, and 1.5 games in the BE Tourney.

Specifically in regards to next year, that’s what I’m looking to.

I think by the end of this season we have to see Coach Anderson’s system taking form.

We’ve got 3 BE wins now. How many does Coach have to win in order for St.John’s to look like a good idea? By this time in most, or all coach’s tenure, it’s clear that they aren’t good at coaching, and kids are picking other schools. With CMA, we didn’t get a honeymoon period where recruits picked us. Posh and Julian were sleepers. Great finds, really.

Lavin and Mullin both had more talent, but by how much? Not much, imo.

But we all know the team needs more. Julian would be a FF worthy Robin to a Batman. But there’s no Batman on this team. Coach has to start to get his. It looks to me like he’s laying groundwork in NYC. Julian and Posh have made it a good idea to play for Coach Anderson. Not many city kids can really say that it was a good idea to come here.

I think Posh is going to be an amazing BE pg. One of those guys who other teams will hate for his entire St John's tenure.

For sure. And there’s times I think wusu might be the better player.

Mullin danced in his 4th year, St. Johns will be dancing next year, with MA's first two seasons being really weird.

If he dances this year he's ahead; if he dances next year it's a tie; if he dances year 4 he's behind Mullin.

This is Anderson’s 2nd season. Mullin danced in his 4th season. You’re not making any sense.

Kid passes like PG...sees the court two moves ahead of most...is already a good shooter and has a chance at being elite.  He reminds me of Roosevelt Jones from Butler -- but with a jumper. There is no question in my mind he would be able to run point as well as Jones did.

If he can add an Immanuel Quickley floater...it's a wrap.

He doesn't count Mullin's first season so the 33 point beating at the hands D2 St. Thomas Aquinas never really happened.

He makes Jones look like he’s standing still. I see a little Bran Wanamaker at Pitt.

I’d like to see him be more of a menace on the glass, but I think he’s so used to covering for Posh who is super aggressive on the glass and on the floor a third of the time.

Wanamaker isn’t a bad comp...I remember him being pretty shifty, though. Dylan’s control is what stands out to me. But, yeah, he is more slippery than Jones.
