Point Guard Play

I like Lawrence bringing it up. He do a lot with the ball.

Boothe does dribble too much, and it feels like he buzzes all over the court,
and then throws it away. It's not helping us.

I'm with DAVE.......DJ has done such a good job lately with assists.. better than PG by far. Might be interesting to have him playing PG.

I've been talking about Boothe's game (or, lack there of) since he's been a freshmen.  Unless, we're running a helter-skelter-Paul Westhead-Loyola Marymount-Nolan Richardson's-40 minutes of Hell-like defense then Boothe isn't no good to us. 

Maybe, the staff should look at this JUCO kid.....

how can you talk so much shit about  boothe when dj (whom i love) drove in the lane and turned the ball over like 12 times with iffy passes to stone-hands evans

no boothe doesnt have any business driving against five guys but how is he so guilty when he is not the biggest culprit. how about when evans does it? or brownlee? that is when i get frustrated. booth squeezing the zone or pressure by getting the ball inside the arch is how we need to play. he and dj just have to understand that you dont have to make the play inside everytime.... collapse the d and kick it out. swing the ball to the open man. pump fake drive and dish. inside-out basketball.

1st off, DJ didnt have 7 turnovers, he had 3 (same with Boothe).  BUT dj did have 5 assists, while Boothe only had 1.  Big difference.

Also, most of DJ's turnovers come when he's making plays, something that Malik cannot do.  DJ is our guy that can set something up and break down a defense, while Maliks turnovers come from making awful decisions when he can't even set something up. 

I don't mind any of those guys attacking the basket but they need to realize when they can and when they can't. They need to make overall better decisions with the basketball.

DJ Kennedy for instance  would drive the ball in as far as he could as a freshman (much like Omari Lawrence currently does) like a bulldog. Now DJ stops and pops a midrange shot or he goes in with more purpose and grace. We'll get better as the season goes on and I'm hoping the coaching staff is addressing these things and more importantly that the players are listening.

in the second half as aways dj came alive, but idc if you give him or evans the to they lost the ball on that drive and dish over and over and over again especially when dj first came in.

i think the biggest problem is our offensive sets suck and guys feel like they have to force something when the plays go nowhere

Doody, what do you mean Boothe can't defend?  He is a very good defender IMO.  He's physical, and he stays with his man.  He's awesome defending the break and helping when bigs bring the ball low in the lane.  Our bigs (other than Dele) just don't fill when a man gets a step on one of our guards. 

POY is right.  Malik II played solid man to man against GA.  Aggressive, physical D right up to the thin line of fouling without going over.

In the other points jock and disrupting there flow most of the night.
