Looks like Omari Lawrence has offers from quite a few schools. Spoke to people real close to him. He will be a steal for any school.

He'll do solid.  Sad to see him go.  What schools?  Any ACC, A-10s?  I imagine Arizona is one.

This is no knock on Omari but how often do you see kids transfer up from bad Big East teams..?

Mike Rosario. Greg Echenique (Creighton is a better program than the bottom of the Big East).  And he doesn't need precedent; he didn't get time but many recruiters were high on him when he signed with St. John's.

It's too bad, but he certainly was not in great shape throughout the season.  It's probably better off that he get a fresh start elsewhere, and hopefully dedicates himself to slimming down.  He is a guard and needs to be quick and athletic like one.  I would have preferred this happen at st. john's, but Lavin has every right to bring in his own guys.

Perhaps, he should have said, "This is no knock on Omari but how often do you see kids who receive/earn no playing time transfer up from Big East teams?"

Well now, that's a different question!  ;D

I'm really surprised that Omari wasn't a little better last year, especially at hitting open shots.  he looked so earthbound it was crazy.

Definately was out of shape> agree with that. But his skill set is still very high. Saw him work out at gaucho gym and the kid is down to 195-200 lbs and jumping to the moon again. Definately needs fresh start. Minnesota got at him too. Tubby Smith would be a good look for him. Though his performance last year didn't show it, this dude destroyed every gaurd in his class nationally in AAU circuit. OZ Cross can confirm that. That's why these colleges want him. They know his best foot wasn't forward at SJU,partly hids fault, partly Norm's.

Yea blame doesn't fall entirely on Norm here. I blame him partially but Omari didn't work as hard as he needed to. I hope Omari crushes it wherever he goes.

Now this bothers me. This is what I hoped to see last October. Why didn't Omari get down to brass tacks a year ago?

What came first the chicken or the egg? Did Omari decide to leave before Lavin was on board or did Lavin influence Omari's decision to transfer? If the latter is true was that the motivation for Omari to finally get in shape?

KOB a question for you..what impact do you think the shoulder injury he suffered two summers ago had?? To me the problem really began that winter at SK and it seemed as if while rehabbing his shoulder the rest of his conditioning took a back seat.  I hope all the talk of him being in better shape is accurate and that he gets a chance to show how good he is at a BCS school and prove how good he is at the highest level.
