As of this morning he was down to SH and SJU. Mom, not Tiny has the kids ear... Mom told me last week she wants him at SJU... Speaking to someone tonight to see how visit went...my guess is SJU  but not sure. This is a different kid then most others.... Very serious and committed...

79. I have heard the same exact thing. Word for word.  Good stuff.  We will know shortly .

He does say best player in 3 of 4 classes. I think whitehead might have jumped  McCullough in the rankings recently.

um coincidence?

Earl J Watson @Earl_Watson
@SJUCoachLavin believed in me beyond basketball when I was a 16 year old kid! His belief changed my life & lives forever! #LoveyouCOACH

Watson is one amazing recruiting tool. Lucky to have him out there doing that. Even better, it's true.

I think what excites me most about the possibility of Whitehead signing, is that we'll have several elite scorers in the backcourt.

I'm used to seeing other teams that have numerous guards who can hurt you, but with D'angelo, Rhysheed, and Isaiah we would have three natural scorers who can shoot, drive, and get to the line.  They just find a way to get buckets.

I don't want to say I'm sick of the putrid offense, because Hardy's sr year things started to click a little.  But, that spring aside, we've seen some really bad offense for awhile now.  Our wins, when they come, aren't usually pretty.  Which is fine.  We play in the BE, it's not supposed to always look good, and defense is something east coasters take pride in.
But man, it would be nice to see us operate with those kindve weapons.

Absolutely Desco. And branch is another guard who can do a little bit of everything.

I always thought that Omar Calhoun was the best player in NY in 2012.

How can kid who didn't play in NYC still be considered a NYC player..?

I think it has to do with our take on recruiting. If it's a kid that grew up in Jamaica, but played his high school ball in CT, I think there is some hope, and expectation that the kid would still consider NY his home. And therefore, show loyalty to his hometown. Even if he doesn't live there any more.

For Harkless, going home was a quick choice once coach took over.

Lavin just posted a picture of him wit Keady and Baron Davis at Benvenuto in Manhattan.  Looks like he had Baron Davis along for the visit today.

Harkless played most of his HS career at Forest Hills.  He only played his Sr. season at South Kent.  That makes him NYC to me.

Some real beauties if you read back over this thread...

Wednesday is nice weather. Should be good scenery on campus as a result.

What are the differences between official vs unofficial?

Official would be that the school picks up the tab for travel and expenses. Unofficial it is on the player.
