I would love to see us involved but it seems like Lavin doesn't like I deal with these circus show recruitments

Numerous people have said Obekpa's recruitment was about as big a three-ring show as you can have.   I think coach will play the games with reruits, their families, and even hangers on (to a point) if he has to.   But once he senses we're out of it, then he cuts his losses and moves on.

The Pirates aren’t done. They will host Lincoln High School star Isaiah Whitehead Saturday on an unofficial visit and are heavily involved with 100 Linden (N.J.) senior forward Quadri Moore, who is also looking at Cincinnati, Miami, Wake Forest and Temple and a consensus top 100 ranked recruit.
“They’re starting to get a little traction,” Scout.com national recruiting analyst Evan Daniels said. “The Angel Delgado commitment was a big one and arguably the biggest pickup Seton Hall has had in years.”
Whitehead, ranked 12th overall in the nation by Scout, also is considering Pittsburgh, UCLA, Minnesota, Syracuse and Louisville, among others, and would be the highest rated recruit to pick Seton Hall in years. He is intrigued by the possibility of leading the Hall back to its glory days, as the face of the program, a source said."

As some have noted, recruiting is certainly fluid.

Like I said, the longer the better. Hopefully he'll get a chance to see how our guards perform this season before he decides.

We would have been in the lead had we not stopped recruiting him in the summer.  This is going to play out very similar to the Rysheed recruitment imo.   Everything I have heard is that Minnesota and Indiana while intriguing are both to far for his mother.  If we go full press on him we are going to get him.

Zach B of Post  feels it will still be a November decision fwiw.

#14 overall by Yahoo, #1 in NYC. This would be a statement signing.

Now if you were a young fellow living in New York and you intended to sign locally would you announce early or take those available free trips to Florida,Hawaii, North Carolina, etc?

Well I certainly would love to land the kid.  I'm just leery.  Hopefully Lavs is able to pull it off.  We'll see....

It would be great to have him, , but why did Lavin stop recruiting him in the summer if we we would have been in the lead?

St. John’s has jumped back into the mix in the Isaiah Whitehead sweepstakes.
The Red Storm reached out to Whitehead’s mother, Ericka Rambert, sources said, and an unofficial visit is in the works for this week. Whitehead confirmed the visit with a tweet and a source said he is interested in what the Big East program has to offer and is wants to hear their pitch.

“Will Be Taking An Unofficial To St.Johns University This Week,” he tweeted.
St. John’s was one of the first schools to offer the 6-foot-4 standout a scholarship, back in the spring of his freshman year, and was involved until recently, when they stopped recruiting him in July. Many pegged Syracuse as the favorite, but the Orange took another guard, Kaleb Joseph of Cushing Academy, in July, and haven’t been linked to Whitehead of late.

Whitehead could team with highly touted freshman point guard Rysheed Jordan to former a dynamic backcourt for the Johnnies.

The Lincoln High School star shooting guard, a consensus five-star prospect ranked by Scout.com as the 12th overall player in the country — the highest ranking for a local product since Indiana Pacers guard Lance Stephenson was a senior at Lincoln five years ago — took an unofficial to Seton Hall on Saturday. He recently visited Indiana as well and met with coaches from Minnesota and Pittsburgh last week at Lincoln. Louisville, Arizona and UCLA are also in the mix.

Whitehead, who led Lincoln to a city title at Madison Square Garden — St. John’s home — in March, has yet to begin to take official visits, but plans to make a decision before his high school season begins in late November.

Thank you man.. figured it is time to come back :)     I keep hearing not to discount Seton Hall as his visit was not just a " token " one.   The hall will be getting a big man commitment next week and are really spending.. err I mean on a roll with recruiting lately :)
