I believe!! I believe!! I think this team became Lavins after the St. B game. This game was so huge.  We should start getting votes now. What a difference a new coach makes.

That's me jumping up and down screaming joyfully as I bang on my keyboard.

What was the attendance (actual)?

What was the Johnny/Hoya fan ratio?

Were our fans loud enough down the stretch?

I was at the game tonight.  Wow, what a crowd.  The Johnnies crowd was loud and I mean loud.  I'll tell you what guys, this team is good.  Say what you want about Norm, but he brought these guys in and as you can see what Norm's fault was unfortunately he was not a good coach.  This team has talent, and the coaching staff is as advertised, GREAT!.  This team is a tournament team.  They might lose to Notre Dame on the road.  No team is perfect, but these guys can play with anyone right now.  They are doing things that people thought they could not do.  Not the winning, but how they are winning.  Playing smart, quick and as a team.  These guys are doing what we have wished for and with what the coaching staff is bringing in, the future is as bright as can be.  Guys, keep posting positive comments because this team is going to allow you to do so.  12 wins is not a fantasy in the big east, it is a reality.

Hardy and Brownlee didn't even play last year. Norm just looks worse and worse every day.

What a game...I was at the game and the garden was rocking!!!!

So exciting...Dwight Hardy is great, 20 pts he is our leader. Brownlee, Burrell and Kennedy were really good as well. Such a huge win, that 5 in a row, 3 in a row in the Big East and 1st place in the Big East!!!

So proud of these guys...feels so good to not be a door mat anymore!

- only 4 turnovers
- the 1 handed Alley by JB was awesome, Sports Center here we come
- rebound at the end by Paris was so big, but it will go unnoticed
- so happy...I made the SNY highlights...under the basket in the black beanie hat!!

Bill Raftery can be annoying at times but his intensity is great in a game like this, he truly enjoys watching these games and makes the games exciting. I can't wait until saturday, these guys are playing unbelievable. I am buying my tickets for the 'Cuse game next week, lets rock the Garden again.

Raftery is the best. He loves SJU. Annoying, try Dick Vitale.

Tremendous win and showcase game for Hardy and Brownlee
The ever classy Stubby Thompson with a blow by handshake after the loss

[tweet]http://twitter.com/#!/raymern/status/22112762373079040[/tweet]

I saw that briefly on ESPN2. Lavin looked like he was saying something and jt just gave him the dead fish and kept going. Lavin looked a little upset/surprised. He paused and looked back for a sec.

Idk what the attendence was but that was the loudest(pro stj) garden crowd i have heard in years. Look for even more fan support after that big win!!!

I missed the handshake, as I was too busy pumping my fist.  LOL  Maybe, JTIII knows his arse will be on the end of Lavin's foot for the foreseeable future, and was practicing his blah handshake for the duration.   ;)

SNY has some good highlights too on their front page.

I didn't think Hardy had any chance at converting that reverse layup...didn't think he would make it to the other side of the rim.  Hell of a play.

This appears to be an extended AP story on SNY's website

St. John's has been doing some impressive streak-ending lately.

The Red Storm snapped a long losing streak at West Virginia to open the Big East season and they became the first conference team to reach 3-0 this season when they beat No. 13 Georgetown 61-58 on Monday night at Madison Square Garden.

That win, St. John's fifth straight overall, ended a 14-game losing streak to ranked teams. The Red Storm's last win over a ranked team was two years ago to the day over Notre Dame.

"This is what I came to St. John's for," said Justin Browlee, whose rebound basket with 10 seconds to play gave the Red Storm the lead for good. "When you get a rebound like that, a big play, it makes you feel like you were right. Any win over a ranked team is great but we know we still have work to do."

--------------------

"It would break my heart if I never got a chance to play in the NCAA and put St. John's where it deserves to be," Justin Burrell said. "So to actually see that game come down, and to see Dwight make that play and Brownlee get the offensive rebound and we go up to kind of seal the deal for us, it was a dream-come-true kind of thing."

Raftery is the best. I'm not sure how anyone can even argue that. When him, McDonough, and Shulman team up thats some trio. I also love Gus Johnson too.
