I think its easy to point the finger at mistakes but what do these players, coaches, and the team have to do to right the ship?

So wait.  Your asking for posters to become coaches in waiting here and looking for their scheme changes, subsitution pattern and all around game criticism?

I think its easy to point the finger at mistakes but what do these players, coaches, and the team have to do to right the ship?

To right the ship the players just needed to take their hands from around their necks and place them on the basketball while shooting free throws on Saturday.

Then they would be 5 and 3 in the BE, close to a national ranking and posters everywhere would be writing about; a) what Ncaa seed we'll be and where they'll send us for the first and second rounds - b) what round Prez, JB1, JB2 and Ed Hardy are going in the Nba draft -c) what an amazing job Hollywood and staff are doing and how much of a refreshing change it is from the NR's era - d) how we're a lock to beat Gtown on the road and how Puke is ripe for the upset. blah...blah..blah...blah...blah.

It is funny how fickle the average SJU poster is and how much the emotional roller coaster ride of the season affects his outlook on life.

I don't know if better free throw shooting will be enough to "right the ship" in the next two as they may not be winnable games for us.
But it had better be a key ingredient against RU on 2/2 or another Alumni hall dish of humble pie will be on the menu.

Coachess need to run fast break drills in practice. The kind where noone is allowed to dribble. My nephews 5th grade team runs a better break

Don't act like you wouldn't be entertained. However I do think there are more level headed posters on this site to have that type of discussion.

I coach at the middle school and JV level where alot of the time we play teams that just have better players. As a coach it is hard to play 4 against 5 but it is impossible to play 2 or 3 against 5. You can hide one guy but it gets hard to hide 2 or 3. These are my thoughts I know I am no expert:
Hardy has improved a great deal at the point- he is the clear starter. Make 1 MALIK the backup. He plays backup minutes. Backup Malik can earn more minutes by smart play and by becoming the slightest threat to score (then it is closer 4.5 against 5) Backup Malik only plays against man or pressure defense- against zone backup malik sits because he can't shoot. At NO TIME will backup Malik play on the wing- Backup Malik's job is to handle the ball- since he cant shoot he shouldnt play off the ball. AT NO TIME SHOULD WE EVER HAVE MULTIPLE MALIKS IN THE GAME!!!
EVANS- I maybe the only SJU fan who likes him- I understand his short comings but he plays with a great amount of heart- Let him play he brings energy- MAKE SURE HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS ALLOWED TO DO- AT NO TIME SHOULD HE PLAY WITH EITHER MALIK (that is 3 against 5) AT NO TIME SHOULD HE PLAY WITH BOTH MALIKS (that is 2 against 5)
DJ- I still think he is our best player- I would make him more of a focal point.- He seems like he is holding back.

EVANS-

They must be showing some kind of chemistry together in practice scrimmages because he sure plays them together a lot.  Probably the bulk of Malik III's minutes are on the floor with Malik II.

It's the only reasonable explanation.

Not a shot at anywhere. Its really a compliment to all the visitors here. The quality of posters here are great and a goal of mine was always to make this place for true fans to talk hoops not a place to go off on rants. After 3 years I think that goal has been pretty well maintained.

Yea issues with server overload. I'm pretty pissed about it. I moved to a new server because it was supposed to be faster but its had just as many problems as the old one. I gave someone an ear full today

I think DJ has to be more aggressive and not have games where he shoots the ball 3-5 times.

Also, Hardy has not shot the ball well at all this year from deep. I dont know what it is but from his shooting percentage last year to this year is stark.  We need him to get out of this season long shooting slump (if he is the shooter Lavin thinks he is and the player/shooter we saw last year).

Kennedy, Hardy and Brownlee need to get to the rim.
They all played with no fire tonight. Lame effort.

1st thing that has to be done is put Boothe back in as the starting pg.  Assuming he's healthy he's our best ballhandler and can up the pace better then Hardy.  It will also help Hardy get easier shots.  He's doing a lot of work right now on offense and he's just not efficient enough.  This team was playing well when they were pushing the pace and getting quick shots.  When we slow it down we just don't have enough skilled guys.  Let Malik push the pace and hope the rest of the guys get in a good groove.

They need to do A lot but I doubt they are capable. Early in the season we pointed out problems in the zone and NOTHING has been done to fix it.

Still leaving players wide open, mostly in the corners, the rotation from baseline to baseline on the 1-2-2 is PUTRID.

How do you fix that? I don't know...be quicker...DITCH THE FREAKING ZONE ALL TOGETHER...

Boothe Stith and Evans should NEVER ever see the floor together, not in practice, not accidentally walking during a water break..never.

I feel like this team is done, there is no hear, no one wants to step up, dumb plays everywhere.

the Duke game we may lose by 40.

Time for Hardy to come off the bench
