St. John's should have taken Sledge.

Why?  Would he really help us that much where Lindsey, Green can't?

Has anyone posted why Phil Greene didn't come?  Harrison came in from Texas.  Chicago seems like a nice road trip....

Fair enough but why do you say that?
I can think of a few reasons off the top of my head but am interested in your reasoning.

Sounds like the playoffs were a big success for our recruits.  I like the fact that they got to know each other a bit more.

You know, I would not get hung up on the "We should have gotten this guy or that guy" scenario.  None of us thought Coach's first real recruiting class would have been so strong, especially with the guards.  His decision to recruit nationally will pay off big time for us over the years.

We have the talent to succeed, all we need now is for the recruits to play as an effective team.

St. John's should have taken Sledge.

I saw him at CYP and was plesantly surprised.  He was better than I thought and dispelled a lot of the knocks that people put on him.  CYP though is a little wild and crazy so I do wonder what he's like under the veil of some structure.

As they say, "speed kills" . But speed out of control is just as deadly. Has he gained more control of his speed.

Who did Turner match up with? Sledge?  What about D'Angelo?

Did Berch go head to head with Sampson?  Who looked better?

Here's Pointer's dunk over Jakarr from this weekend

Pointer is an impressive athlete, I think with that athleticism and defensive prowess he will be a stud for us. I really like that Jakarr tries to defend the rim no matter what, I think he might be the most important player next year because he's going to be playing the most minutes down low most likely.

St. John's should have taken Sledge.

Let him prep at Iowa State and then he can transfer home:)

Pointer sometimes reminds me of Ray Jackson from the Fab 5.

Pointer, Sampson, Harkless, D'Angelo need tons of time on the court. I am loving Sampson's game more and more every day.  Same with Pointer.  Both kids have great personalities and are cut from the same cloth.  The great part of it is that on a team like last season, he'd be our center.  We have Pelle and God's Gift so that Sampson doesn't have to play that role, which is great.  I can't wait to see this team suit up next year.

I think what I like the most is some of the attitudes that we have coming in. Sampson mentioned Harrison being like a little bully on the court with the other team,Sampson as said by posters here tries to block every shot ( not that it's a good thing all the time but I like that mindset ) and Pointer wanting to guard whoever the other teams best offensive player is.

That's the type of stuff you can feed off of and that can rub off on guys. These kids are going to be so much fun to root for

I'm telling you, Pointer is a clone of Pitt's Sam Young.

I don't see that. Don't know if SDP's shot is there yet to Young's extent, or if Young's defense was ever as good as what I'm expecting out of SDP

Young wasn't a good outside shooter at all entering Pitt.  He made high percentage shots at Pitt much like Pointer does now on dunks, slashes and putbacks.  He improved to become a very good shoot outside.  Pointer's D is much further ahead.  Just think they both have same build, athletic style and similar game type.  I hope Pointer can develop am consistent shooting touch.
