So stop saying what I say is nutty and creepy and white about Polee.  I said what I felt about him and some agreed.  It was different from all the well-wishes.  The likes of which Evans never got.  Now THAT's nutty.  He was going to transfer out and chose to stick it out to his own detriment.  I find guys goofing on his workouts at this point creepy.  But that's just me.  Can't find what I said about Cedric any more but I'll bet Mike Maher remembers.

Bobre-as the strong supporter of Sean, do you know what he is up to?  Is he pursuing roundball dreams or will try to play football for a year like the Duke player did at Syracuse?
Haven't heard anything about Sean playing football.  If he'd have sat out last season though there are any number of programs where he would have gotten 30+ mpg this year.  That might have changed his story considerably.  I just think we should be worrying about guys who stuck it out at SJU rather than Polee.  Haven't heard too many questions about DJ lately either.  Remember him????

Bobre....we are talking about polee more because he still has college eligibility!   We are looking fwd to next yr.  None of our guys from last yr are likely to be drafted, so there isnt much to talk about.  Please come back to reality.

In a related matter Bobre has announced that at ST. J. opening game next season at Carnessecca Arena there will be a dual ceremony inducting Sean Evans into the St. J's Hall of Fame and having Evans be honored as the first St J's player to ever have his number retired. Bobre has also petitioned MSG chairman James Dolan to have Evans Jersey hang in the MSG rafters along side Lou Carnessecca's banner the only difference being that Evans banner remain up during non college hoop events unlike Lou's-the reason being that Bobre believes that not just college hoop fans but the general population should be able to salute and genuflect at the Sean Evans alter. Bobre is also seriously considering petitioning the Steinbrenners to include Sean Evans name in conjunction with Joe DiMaggio's name on his monument in monument park at Yankee stadium along with his retired #5. Bobre as already illicicted a promise from the Steinbrenners that should the Yanks make it to the world series that Sean would get to throw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium-also if the Yanks load the bases Sean would be sent up as a pinch hitter. Also if rumors are true that A-Rod has indeed broken up with Cameron Diaz that Sean has first dibs as A-Rod's next love interest. Stay tuned for any other late breaking news that Bobre may provide as it relates to Mr. Evans.

Ironic that you would post this idiocy on a day when another of my predictions (Mark Jackson) came true.  Were you one of the schmucks that was posting he wasn't qualified to coach at St John's? Tell that to the Golden State owners.  Wonder who makes more Mark or Lavin? Well hold onto your shorts and say a little prayer each night that Sean doesn't get discovered.  Either way when he's making more than you somewhere playing hoops I'll be there to remind you what a great judge of talent you are.  Have fun.  GO MARK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder what guys like Pitino and Brown would say.  Yeah Phil Jackson would never have cut it in college.  Give me a break.  Norm Roberts came close to making it and he couldn't tie Mark Jackson's shoelaces.

He wasn't qualified to coach St. John's, because we needed someone with experience. The wrong choice again would have killed this program. And if you think Mark even knew who half the recruits Lavin brought in were, you are a bigger ass than I thought.

And Golden State ownership has been crummy for years, so if that's your argument, you'd better think long and hard about a new one.

Exactly!  We couldn't take the chance on Jackson, considering where our program was at the moment.  I, truly loved Mark Jackson the player.  My brother once met him several years ago and mentioned how Jackson seemed genuine and was polite.  I'll say, I wanted no part of Mark Jackson coaching the Johnnies.

I agree here, as well.  Golden State's franchise isn't exactly one of your smartest franchises in the Association.  Although, I'm happy for Jackson and wish him the best....  Golden State isn't a team I'd mimick on modeling my franchise.

Good luck, Jax!   Oh!  This is suppose to be about Polee....   :)

Hey Nostradomus don't put words into my mouth-i never said anything about MJ coaching-and as for your prediction coming true-congratulations-everyone knew MJ would eventually get a job-what else are you predicting-the sun will rise in the east? And I thought Sean was already discovered-on Dancing with the stars or was it American Idol. As for your name calling I would expect nothing less from an obviously classless individual. Hope the rest of you saw some humor in my original post which was all I was trying to do. And sorry bobre but I don't spend my time comparing my salary to others.

There are a lot of moderators in training I see :)
The world isn't perfect.  As a moderator from Redmen its near IMPOSSIBLE to keep things all nice and tidy.  Its natural for things to steer off.  If someone makes a ludicrous statement (ie Evans) should it go ignored or talked about where it originated?

Also at this point Polee is gone.  Wished him the best with everyone else but not like we're ignoring him here.  He's gone.

Just my two cents since I've seen this point brought up a lot lately.

Another prediction - You will never make a dime either as a talent evaluator or as a comedian.  I remember a lot of guys posting that Mark wasn't qualified to coach but none saying he'd get a head coaching job without coaching experience.  If you really think he would have failed at SJU that's your opinion but I don't agree.  Let it go at that.  I'm also predicting that Evans will make decent bucks playing ball.  Do you agree with that or not?  Just a simple yes or no will do.  Then we'll see who's right in the years to come.

Burrell wasn't derailed. Lav played him correct. I'm happy
Think he played Evans correct?  I don't.  Then he needed him when DJ went down and he wasn't ready.  Burrell's 6th man award was a joke.  It was the 5th man role that was screwed up.  Polee had no business starting.

Please recall the newspaper article which Evans' himself admitted he wasn't with Lavin's program at the beginnning and even had thoughts of leaving.  That it was his fault he wasn't playing early on because he didn't buy in at the beginning.    So, who held who back?  Sounds like he held himself back and readily admits it.

As far as Burrell goes, inconsistent most of his career, there were games he came up big and others he disappeared.  That was his career here.  He was used properly and the results shows in the season we had.

College and Pro coaching is totally different.  Pitino and Calapari could probably handle the X's and O's but handling Pro players, especially veterans was something neither were good at.  Nor was Pitino any good handling Personnel matters (trades, free agent signings).  In college ball,  there is also dealing with the Alumni, the academic portion, recruiting and boosters.  Just a different world.  I have no doubt Phil Jackson could handle the X's and O's, but the athletes are at a different level and there are the other things I mentioned.

As mentioned by othe posters, we couldn't afford to not get it right.   We wanted to be big time and big time college programs, don't normally hire people without any type of coaching experience.  That is no slight on Mark who I wish well.

Any problem I may have is not with Sean Evans it is with your (bobre) sick obsession with all things Sean Evans. It was you who hijacked this thread about Polee and made it about Evans. If you are not 5 years old or younger I recommend medication for your illness-Haldol 250mg im q 4 wks and 10mgs PO 2x d plus Depakote 1000mgs PO d. In addition-individual and group therapy. In about one month reevaluate and consider a one hour per day-day pass. Good luck.

Bobre: Yes, I agree. Of course, in Europe/Asia a player pulls a couple hundred off the bench, so it's very likely for SE. Now, I predict Dwayne will make more than SE in the pros over his entire career (adjusted for future worth of money:)  Yes or No will suffice Bobre.

I don't know what the future holds for young Mr. Polee but I do know that Evans was a vastly superior player THIS YEAR and didn't play enough for whatever reason.  Whether it was his fault doesn't really matter and to his credit, Lavin did rectify the situation and openly expressed his satisfaction with the outcome.  I really doubt that you'll hear him say the same about Polee.  The kid has a long way to go and crapping out at the first sign of a little competition wasn't the best way to start.  He's gone and that's all she wrote to me.  I'd rather read about guys like Geno, Glover and Bootsy etc. who gave it up for SJU.

For you I'd recommend a high colonic enema.  Then when your brain falls out on the floor cork it up and start all over again with a more open outlook.

Lavin didn't rectify the situation, Evans did by doing what the coaches wanted him to do.  Once he did that, he earned the playing time.  If he had done that from the beginning, he would have gotten the playing time you feel he deserved.  That is on him.
