Quincy Roberts

I never really saw anything in Quincy while he was here. Didn't seem to fit in well. I'm glad he is doing well though, I'm sure he is a great kid and I'm rooting for him. I just don't think he would have done much on this years team.

The guys we won with last year were for the most part mid major prospects (that is what Norm sold us as being good recruits). We rode a very good Dwight Hardy that he failed to utilize as a junior to a great season. It took Lavin and staff to get these kids to play far beyond their talent level to succeed. I ran down the list of players that left to lower programs and some played well.

Norm and Steve both proved anyone can recruit for SJU.  What you do with them is the key.  Norm had six 2 guards and no clue what to do other than playing Boothe 35 minutes per game.

Q was in a tough spot. He wasn't cracking the rotation and if all the bodies last year came he might not have cracked it again. He's at a school where he can be the go-to guy. No shame in that.

College basketball is a funny game. Also out of the guys mentioned, Ron Roberts would have been the most needed guy here. It would have been wise to hold onto him instead of fishing for Remi Barry.

exactly. ron averaging 10.5 and 5.6 as a soph.  also he was maybe a better choice than d. pollee jr.  obviously it is all a crapshoot and lavin is a master but sometimes go for the solid program players as well.

With a name like Quincy he would have made a perfect replacement for Phil on our all time strangest first name starting lineup. 

Good luck to both of the but they are putting up stats at the lowest levels of Div I hoops, take the numbers with a grain of salt.

Like Cjax did and then he got on a roster, oh and his backcourt mate pulled those stats too.  Now he's the PG for the Heat.  There's talent at every level of D1 as the draft and NBA rosters show.  Knocking them for playing well is showing a lack of understanding.

Ty was the only STJ player I seen who I didnt think belonged on a D1 roster at any level even as a 13th man.

He just look so overwhelmed in evry aspect.

No one denies that, but like I've said in the past, if you go to the grocery store and pick out all of the ingredients, and I make you a delicious dinner, you get some of the credit. Not a lot, but some.

Thanks Moose, I often forget that some folks don't follow hoops that don't occur in CA.  FWIW Last year Ty was in the top 100 players in Div 1 in PPG at 17.1.  This year his numbers are down to 14.

I've always liked Quincy and thought that he had alot of potential. Reminded me of Paris Horne and Lavar Postell. Wish he would have stayed with us, we could have really used him. It's great to see him doing so well.

We certainly could have used. There is no question. 24 ppg is 24 ppg.

I agree that we probably could have use of QR, but I am not impressed with point averages and other stats at different playing levels.  Cases in point- stats from last year for both GG and Nuri!

Edmondon, Roberts and Jackson transferred to D1 schools. Jackson made the f'n League. Don't be impressed, but that's just being a hater. These kids improved.
