to fit into his 35 seconds of passing the ball around until the clock ran out. Malik Stith continues that tradition to this day:)

Phil Greene does a good job of that as well.

And no, I am not a bandwagoner. Yet that is the very definition of a St.John's fan. The 100-200 fans that show up for games don't fall into that group, (myself included).

So sorry to have hurt your feeling. You might want to wear ear plugs on February 4th. New York's team is going to molest the f out of us. We are, St.John's. We are not New York's team.

You are not a band wagoner? I'm befuddled by your dogma! You stated in no uncertain terms that "yet, that is the very definition of a St. John's fan" EXCEPT you??? You are one of the "special fans" that pay big bucks to attend MSG games that are part of a secret "love Fest" for the team? Oh, wait, you are famous for posting in game threads "during the games" ... Thanks for keeping us abreast of each play from the Garden! My IPhone has poor transmission from MSG or I would do the same! Then again, it is quite hard to follow the play and text simultaneously as skillfully as you do!

Why, it is super-fans such as yourself that resent the play of this team made up of freshmen, that come back for more mediocre basketball, yet remind us that Syracuse is NY's team, that we, like you, should come to MSG to watch 'Cuse "molest the f out of us"', and that We are St. John's and accordingly, deserve to be molested and we all should come to the Garden like you (who seems to follow the games on TV from all the game threads I have reviewed) and enjoy another molestation because YOU are the real fan and you speak the "truth" and give us that dose of reality we lack. Ummh.....sounds a lot like another former Real Fan poster here. Oh, wait, he no longer posts here but sends you his manuscripts to keep hope alive here!

Reality is "real fans" like you need not apply to the Red and White Club. You need not damage your fragile ego by attending any more games. I truly fear for your mental well being and recommend staying as far away from this basketball program as possible. Spend the money you claim to be spending on tickets on your kids, your wife, your  cummara, and recover as best you can and find a "real" college team to root for like Iona. At least they get 4,000 fans to the hotbed of college basketball New Rochelle, and are smart enough not to have dreams of a national championship knowing they are two players away from returning to mediocrity next year.  That does not stop them from attending powerhouse games against nationally ranked MAAC teams unlike lowly St. John's that have to play at that over-hyped basketball Mecca called MSG against such mediocre programs such as Duke, Syracuse, georgetown, Uconn, UCLA! Lville, Villanova, etc.!  How dare St. John' s put 5 freshmen on the court and expect us to root for them! How dare they put 5 freshmen on the floor against 12 nationally ranked teams this season! How dare coach Lavin get cancer and have surgery? How dare Syracuse bring 10,000 fans to the Garden!
What the f does Syracuse think they are!!!! #1 in New York? #1 in ALL of college basketball? Have we at SJ no shame to even show up?? Wait! I forgot! YOU and the real true to the core SJ fans will be there to watch Syracuse "molest the f" out of our young teens!!
Now I know where your true dark desires come from!
Get well soon! I will pray for your salvation.
As I asked previously, do you enjoy being self-destructive?

LOL!!!  Too early for Post of the Year nominations?

I said that St.John's fans are band wagoners. I stand by that. It's dead on. Georgetown has less than 8000 undergrad. SJU has about 19K.
Their students outnumbered ours. What's our excuse?

Let's see:

1. It's cold.
2. You have to get up really early in the morning
3. It's during break, and all of my friends might not be there

Where is the real answer? The truth is hard to admit sometimes. If we were 14-4, and it looked like we had a chance at the dance, the students would show up
like they did last year. You see, that's what a band wagoner does. They go to the games only when the team is great. And for SJ, that's once every 10 years.

Where am I wrong? Rather than telling me that I need help, I think if you examine the facts, you'll see it clearly spelled out. This is a band wagon fan base. Always has been.

Do I go to every game? I'm not retired, so no. I've been to 8 games this season. Including that terrible display Sunday.

If you are having trouble following along, let me break it down for you. This thread was to call out the terrible message
that the brain trust at St.John's has decided to move forward with. Claiming that "We Are NY's Team" is a sad
response to Syracuse's obnoxious ad campaign.

We could be NY's team one day, but we need to earn that. SJ has always felt like they were owed something from
their fan base and from the media. Claiming that we're NY's team when Syracuse is likely to win more games than us on
our court is just laughable. How often has SU not won more games than us on our court? How is that not NY's team?

Facts are facts.

LOL, I didn't know that you needed to "apply" to the Red/White Club. As I understand it, they'll happily take your money no matter who you are,
and once in a while strut out some old dogs from the 70's that no one outside of the small SJU family would recognize—or even remember.

Malik Boothe has averaged under 13 minutes in his SJ career. He is at least 4 inches shorter and cannot pass the ball and make an assist unless it is to an opposing player. Where are the comparisons???

I think that you are speaking about Stith.

Correct! It was a "Malik" slip. Both were too short, in height and talent, to play in the Big East but Norm Roberts had a soft spot for players that reminded him of himself when he played at Queens College. He made sure to recruit that type of short-armed, short-framed type to fit into his 35 seconds of passing the ball around until the clock ran out. Malik Stith continues that tradition to this day:)

Stith is significantly worse than Boothe. He can't even get the ball across the line. Boothe was at least tough. He at least played defense, and came up with steals. Last year, he worked his butt off, and finished up his career with a great senior season.

going back to the topic--We are New York City's team and Cuse is NorthCarolina's team or Atlanta's team.  They will lose their NY identity over the next 5 to 10 years for a "better" opportunity in football.

BC was a very good draw here but they are not relevant in the northeast anymore; same will happen to the Syracuse Traitors as they move to an inferior football conference (yes--check out BCS bowl statistics since inception and the ACC is LAST while the Big Least has done significantly better).  See how well they travel to Raleigh and places south.

Best thing is that now the BCS is discussing a change in format whereby there will be an 8 team playoff for national championship.  the Syracuse Traitors will NEVER see one of those games unless they watch others play on TV.

I think it's possible you may be right, but it wouldn't truly take affect until Boeheim retires.

They are a draw to MSG because of their alumni, and loyal fan base. What's to stop MSG from scheduling an SU vs NC game? Or an SU vs Duke or Maryland game?

Phil Greene does a good job of that as well.

Phil actually does it better. LOL!
Then again, Greene was not recruited to be the starting point guard as was Boothe. Both Boothe and Stith, at 5'9 in shoes, were never good point guards yet those were the Norm type guards. Greene likely would never have started at St. John's had Lindsey been half the player everyone expected and actually had stayed. If there is one position the SJ coaches have failed on a Norm Roberts level this year it is at the guard position. Rutgers recruited better guards than SJ and that is the difference in them beating nationally ranked teams and SJ breathlessly awaiting Jamal Branch.
