Lavin Hard on the Recruiting Trail

I really hope coach isn't just blowing hot air. All these statements about a "great" recruiting class...doesn't make sense becayuse we have no one right now. All the top kids in the country for the most part have picked schools. What possible players could Lavin bring in to warrant a "great" recruiting class.

I hope he's right, and there is no reason to doubt him, but it's hard to be optimistic with the choices out there, especially after the poor year we had.

Go over Lavin's recruiting resume and feel confident IMO. Think we will be quite pleased w solid, if not stellar class.

Man, how fast we forget.  Coach took this team to the dance last year with  ONE kid who'd been a top 100 recruit - but an 12 man roster of 100-200 ranked kids.   Next years team will have 5 and possibly 7 top 100 kids.

Some posters seem to be lamenting our recruits aren't going to be HIGH enuf on the top 100 lists 

There was one post crying there's not enuf talent out there to get a top 25 class.   C'mon.  We could land 3 top 50 recruits (counting Branch).   Do the math and figure out how there could POSSIBLY be 25 better classes if that happens....

Sorry to be so strident.  Made the mistake of visting my UCLA boards before coming here.  Got a severe pain between my ears...

Not even I dont think we had one top 100 recruit on that team

Lavin gets Sampson,Obekpa, Morris- thats a great class and exactly what we need. Add a de-committ, and we are stacked

Branch also counts in the class. And they really need a true point to run the offense.

Yes.  I heard that Branch was KILLING it in practice.  Dunlap says he's a "natural" at the pick and roll and his presence helped both Phil and 3'Lo improve.  Let's not forget Branch will come to us with a full season of college experience--with two programs.  He's also already played in the Garden.  He'll be much more experienced than a typical recruit.  He's also has the rep of the best defensive PG in the 2011 class. That should be real fun to watch with Greene, Pointer, and Garrett when Dunlap has the depth to really let the horses run and defend every inch of the court for every minute of the game.

This team needed a true point and they got it.  No more single-digit assist games for STJ next year.
