FWIW, the numbers I see say Gift is averaging 9pts 5rebs and 31 minutes. I didn't expect the world, but I did expect slightly more than that. And his free throw % which once was a strong point, has dipped to 66%. Not bad for a big man, but no longer a plus.
I'm not expecting a lot from Gift, but I would like to see him have more court awareness on Defense, like another poster mentioned. He gets lost in the zone a lot and we've all seen the backdoor and alley oop results.
Secondly, improved hands. And I don't know how or if that can be worked on. But I never expected Gift to have a dangerous face-up game, or to be able to drive on big men in the BE. But, our guards are getting him the ball when they draw the defense in, and if he could catch it cleanly he'd have easy lay-ins or would at least get fouled. But when he bumbles with the ball for a moment, it gives the defense a chance to react.
Better rotations, and court awareness on D. And, catch the ball cleanly. That's what I'd like to see Gift work on in games this summer.
