Our AZ Alumni group had picked this game earlier for our February gathering and we were all glad we did. Boy, we had our watering hole rocking at the end of the game.
Many of us did a road trip last year to UCLA to see our team play. What impressed me (or disappointed me the most) last year was the ability of UCLA's Smith to seemingly score at will. His feet never seemed to leave the floor but he caught passes near the hoop and dunked w/o leaving the floor, or so it appeared. We had no defense for him in 2011.
This year I thought it was going to be deja vu when he had three dunks early. Did Coach D. finally figure out how to keep the ball away from him?
Today we had very short scoring droughts. That was a problem we had all last year.
It was my first view of this year's team. I was impressed by their athletic ability. They seemed to lack the height of UCLA, but either rebounded or pushed the ball around for second or third tries.
While Moe's 3-14 shooting was not up to par, he appeared to be in the mix of so many plays. He and the rest of the guys must be exhausted after the game.
We could not hear what Coach Lavin was talking about, but from some of the posts here it seemed that he focused on confirming, again, that he will be back on the bench next year.
