I was thinking about how far ahead our freshman have gotten this year with all of the minutes logged and started looking at some stats of some of the players in 2011 that we were involved with. Other than the top 10 type recruits (Nick Johnson, LeBryan Nash, Jabari Hind, and Quincy Miller) barely any of these guys averaged double digits in minutes. The obvious point is how far ahead of the game our guys go into their Sophmore year with all of the experienced they got this year. But the other point is how could a recruit turn down the possible minutes available as a freshman at St.Johns. Lavins a good recruiter to begin with, but he will definitely harp on this with recruits and any kid would have to listen. This year was an anomaly because of our lack of depth, but a good recruit will garner a good 20 minutes a game here and that is a lot more time than most freshman will get elswhere. This will probably the last year Lavin will have the luxury of using this as a recruiting tool. Below is a list of some of the guys we missed on and their minutes per game.
