The first 4 question I asked myself before I posted this
1) Is D'Angelo the odds on favorite to be the Big East Leading scorer next year? Yes, so that will draw a lot of attention from NBA scouts & they will see his other intangibles.
2) Will staying in college for 4 years help him get draft higher? No, scouts would probably want to know if he can run the 1 full time like Steph Curry did his JR year but D'Angelo won't have the chance with Branch & Green there. He won't grow any taller just like Doron Lamb which would be his other Knock. Staying for 4 years takes away from the scouts favorite word potential
3) Can he defend an NBA 1? Yes , saw him have a few difficult time with a few guards in the Big East but so would most NCAA prospects .But he has come up big on D on more than a few occasions against taller & quicker players
4)Is he a willing passer? Maybe I think his B-Ball IQ is high enough , he is also a pin point passer who has the ability to drive the lane and create. We saw him force a lot of shots last year but I think part of that was due to our lack of talent on the offensive end.
Other Combo guards/Small SG/ scoring PG in the NBA seeing a lot of PT or on an NBA roster Sweet Lou Williams , Jason Terry , Rodrigue Beaubois, Devin Harris, Norris Cole , Mario Chamlers , Tony Parker , Derek Fisher , Reggie Williams , Ramon session , Doland Solan , Jeremy Lin , Courtney Lee, Gary Neal , Goran Dragic , Jordan Crawford , Shelvin Mack , Charles Jenkins , etc
Just watching John Lucas III (happy he finally got his chance!) tonight I was thinking D'Angelo can easily be doing what Lucas was doing.
I love Bassy & every time I saw him play this year he looked a lot more mature but D'Angelo would take his spot as back up PG on the Suns next year. I can see him backing up Nelson on the magic as well Duhon can't throw the ball in the ocean. Miller is a FA for Denver next year I can see him backing up Ty in that high power offense.
