I hope he goes to Celtics and his family will be able to get to see him regularly.

As a Knicks fan, it would be tough to see Moe in a Celtic's jersey.

Remember not to get too excited with what team he goes to.  Half the time in the NBA the team that drafts a player tonight trades him later in the night :2funny:

Re: k1ngs of k1ngs:  Can someone explain something to me?  Why do Knicks fans have anything against the Celtics?  Celtics fans dont have anything against the Knicks.  I'm a die hard celtics fan but I'll root for the KNicks if they are playing other teams.  When was the last time the Celtics and KNicks had a "rivalry" when both were similarly very good at the same time?  The Early 70s --- like 30 years ago?  The Celtics have developed rivalries with the Sixers/Pistons from the 80s, recently the Heat, and OF COURSE, the Celtics' all-time rival, the hated Lakers.  But not the Knicks.   Yet on Saturday I get yelled at by a Knicks fan for a Celtics shirt in my hometown.   What gives?  Is this just Red Sox/Patriots hatred attributed to the Boston basketball team?  I'm honestly very interested to know if and why Knicks fans think there is a rivalry with the Celtics.  There just isn't.

I agree.  The Knicks haven't been relevant in over a decade.  Knicks used to have a real rivalry against the Heat and the pacers.  Celtics, not really.

I thought this thread was only about where Moe gets picked......I'm kidding :)

I'm not a Knicks fan but from an outsiders perspective yes I do think its simply the NY/BOS hatred across all sports.

I think it's definitely a hatred for all Boston teams really. Also, I can't stand KG because he's such a bully and Pierce's antics at MSG over the years have been a bit much. He's a great player, they both are, but bowing at mid court to the fans is just him being an ass.

Boo, exactly.  When the Knicks were good in the 90s, the Celtics were horrible.  80s/most of the 2000s it was the reverse.  I'd love for it to be a rivalry as BOS/NY rivalries are always awesome, but not yet...

To me the NBA has the least relevant "rivalries" of any sport.

I'm a Giants fan first and foremost ... every year I look forward to beating the Eagles and Cowboys if we can.  Regardless of if those teams are in first place or winless.   I think Jet fans would say the same about the Dolphins and Pats.

But in the nba your rival is who has the best player in your conference at the moment.    Would you say the Celts were rivals with the Cavs?  No, but Lebron was there.  Now he's on the heat.
I understand there are some true, historic, and bitter to the bone, rivalries ... Celtics-Lakers, for example.   But to me the Nba is all about who the best players in your conference are for a 5 year period.. and then poof! instant rivalry.

The same can't be said football, baseball, hockey or college basketball.

Why should NHL have more rivalries than NBA though?  NFL makes sense because you play 1/8 of your games against 3 different teams every single year battling for a division title which is very meaningful since there are only 2 wild card spots.   MLB makes sense because you play your division rival a whopping 19 times a year, in some cases, and because of the history behind something like Yankees-Red Sox, Dodgers-Giants, Cardinals-Cubs, etc.  But why would NHL have real rivalries and not NBA?  Im not saying they don't...but why should they?  They play the same amoutn fo games against their in division rivals and same amount of playoff teams each, right?

In the NBA, all the players are friends.  It's almost nauseating.  NHL, NFL-  these guys really don't like each other.   Makes for a real rivalry.

 The NBA is just weaksauce.

You're right kid .. they shouldn't.   Based on the schedule the nhl shouldn't have more meaningful rivalries, but I'm only a casual hockey fan and I can tell you Rangers-flyers or Rangers-Islanders are the dates you circle on the calendar.   Do Knick fans do that for the Nets or Sixers?  Not really.

It seems to me like the NBA highlights the best matchups at that moment.  Christmas day they'll matchup the Knicks and Magic if both teams are good.   The NFL/NHL, and MLB are going to highlight Giants-Dallas, or Yankees-Sox even if the teams aren't predicted to be playoff teams.

And what Boo says has a lot of truth to it too.

Boo, part of why I LOVE the Celtics, I think, is that they always hate their rivals.  Maybe not everyone, but that's why I liked rondo and garnett being so peeved about the Game 7 loss to Miami that they walked off without shaking hands, and that's why I like when Pierce arrogantly taunts the Knicks, and that's why I like when KG mouths off to anyone and everyone, and Rondo is just as bristly.  Ray Allen may not be the same way, and Pierce may be kinda in between or just plain cocky, but the vibe I get from the Celtics is they legitimately do not like you on the court, no matter who you are.  And that's why I've been more into the Celtics than the lame duck Red Sox the last 5 years...

Point taken.  In general however, the NBA is very "friendly" league.   I think everyone in the league hate Garnett except his teammates..

I've hated the Celtics since I was a kid---mostly due to their success.  Isn't that why everyone hates the Yankees?  We may not have had a real rivalry because of the Knicks' lack of success but I will never stop rooting against the Celtics.  A few years back, I couldn't understand how my daughter, a KG fan, could root for the Celtics.  This year, I even rooted for Miami in the semis.  That's just the way it is---and should be.

This is when the scouts start to get misty pits and investing a lottery pick on an SJU kid with potential is always a stretch.  This is when the guys with vision and cohones seperate themselves from the hacks.  Unless someone with some balls and a high pick takes a chance on him some good team is going to get one of the bargains of the draft. That works in his favor, fitting in instead of having to be a major contributor from day one.  Either way he'll be a millionaire with a wonderful future so no sweat.  I've gravitated toward the Celtics as the Knicks crumbled and seeing him learning from Pierce would be a good thing.

While i agree with the majority of your post, why do you say scouts are nervous about taking a kid from St. John's?  What about coming out of St. John's, having played under this staff for a season, would make scouts shy away? I'm not following.

Well, in terms of "this staff", the last guy who wouldn't sit a LONG time in the Green Room was Baron Davis as the #3....and that was last Century.   In terms of the school, it was Ron Artest, in that same draft as Baron last Century.  And he would be borderline for a Green Room invite at #16.
