So is it safe to assume that if we see Gift tomorrow that Sanchez is gone?
What about if we don't, can we drive ourselves crazy wondering what that means? I know I can.

If Sanchez isn't playing tomorrow even if he's still in limbo, Gift better be dressed and able to play.  Otherwise a mistake IMO.  Can't play 4 games this week without him available.

Somebody remind me, what was the rumored problem with Marco again?
Something about reinstatement right?

Can anyone elaborate?

For starters Marco is foreign as we all now.  Came to the states went to HS in Marlyand.
Marco enrolled at Montana out of HS but was then declared to have been a credit short of NCAA standards.
Went to ND Prep for 5th year.
Then went to Monroe for JC but got hurt and only played 1 yr.

So the question is when his NCAA clock started and does he have 2 or 3 years.

Thank you by the way.   That was a helpful re-cap considering the ongoing rumors.

LOL  I actually think I see Sanchez on the left wing, but I can't zoom in.
I don't understand why Bourgault is not playing now other than to take attention away from the Sanchez matter.

Yeah, probably him on the left.  I think we should wait for official announcement of eligibility at this point.  While it might not seem good right now, let's see how it plays out.

Some of you need to breathe and step off the ledge.  Remember what happened when everyone over analyzed obekpa's tweets.  Let the situation play out and then overreact. Here is to hoping that we hear good news today.

If Sanchez and/or Marco are not cleared by NCAA this clearly falls on the both the staff and our compliance department.

The staff alone - these guys are very well paid and are continuing to bring players into the program that are risks in the eyes of the NCAA for different reasons. You can say it happens at every school and there is probably some validity to that but we are St. John's fans and it just seems this staff is consistently taking risks on players.

I wish Orlando and Marco all the best and hope they are playing for us this year but if they NCAA doesn't clear them to play, there have to be some consequences with the staff.

How many kids can they bring to the program that do not end up contributing to St. John's basketball program.?

Steve is going to continue to take chances with kids.  Hard to get the mom&pop stench of the last decade off the product.

I dont see any issue with the school's compliance staff.  If they were letting the kids see the court as Uconn had with Boatright playing last year I would agree with you.  Schools in a much stronger position than St John's have kids (or 24 yr old men) who can't get NCAA clearance.  As long as the school identifies the concerns, keeps the kids off the court, and works with the NCAA they are in full compliance with the rules.

St John's is recruiting older players and some kids who are great basketball players and lousy students - is this a surprise?   They are not breaking NCAA rules.  They are following the rules by not playing these guys.

This stuff comes with the territory.  It also is somewhat related to having to sign nine kids in one year - a ridiculous situation at this level.

Risks have to be taken with the situation Coach was left with.  It's really hard recruiting as many players each season as he's had to.  We are REDSHIRTING two scholarship players if Sanchez and Bourgault qualify so it's not like this year is the same as last year.  I think this year the risks were worth it. Last year we obviously screwed up a bit.  The two years are not similar in my mind, even though there may be a fairly similar result.
