Jakar is out of here the only people who cant see that is St.johns fans. Would not suprise me if so CO left as well end up on the spurs or ok city late 1st rd riding there bench for a couple of years getting top notch coaching. Also Harrison is starting to regress again I think he is off to Europe after this season.

I think this is sarcasm.
Right?

I wouldn't get our hopes up high in seeing JaKarr as a sophomore. What I think he should do is an entirely different thing.

Does anybody else think that he seems to launch his jumper from the side of his head may lead to problems at the next level?  Also, he needs to develop a three point shot because he's gonna be a three in the NBA.  I think it'll take at least another year, or maybe two for him to develop his game. 8)

I'd hate to lose him after just one season.

Probably meaningless, but;

“@DraftExpress: According to my research Jakarr Sampson would be the first SF ever to play in the NBA w/out hitting a college 3-pointer http://t.co/L9v5Nvg6

“@DraftExpress: Bottom line: its tough to be a NBA wing if you can't shoot. To just spout off and say a guy like Sampson will go mid-1st feels irresponsible”

That NBA scout comment is the first time I have heard any source claim Jakar could be a first round pick this year.  And getting exposure doesn't necessarily result in player's stock jumping up NBA draft boards.  The player either has the tools or doesn't.  Right now, I can't see how Jakar could be a first round pick this year, even drafting off potential.

Sort of "Ingraham" like, except he was more to the front of his body. Hope he understands while he can get away with that in  college, the pros will slap that back in his face. Also hope he realizes that he will have to perfect that as well as an ability to hit a 3 for at least 1 more year before he hits the NBA.

The numbers do look close, but watching Moe last year, he would have his games where he just dominated (see, e.g., Duke).  JaKarr, otoh, has been a model of consistency. Always getting at or around his average numbers.  When measuring NBA potential, I think scouts looked at Moe as someone who, when properly conditioned and with some experience, had HUGE upside, and you would see glimpses of that upside in those games where he just took over.  Sampson, I think, needs a little more seasoning based on his game before scouts pencil him in as a sure thing first rounder (at least I hope so).

Moose you think the numbers have any real impact?  I don't think so - we have seen guys put up huge numbers in even some of the major conferences and either don't get drafted or are second round picks.  I think it is more the skill set and potential that get guys drafted.  To me, Jakar lacks the overall skill level that Mo showed at this point, which is why I don't he's being pegged anywhere near the first round right now (and why Mo was).

Jakarr needs to become a much better shooter, passer and defender to play in the league. One day yes, but not this year.

If Moe dominated so much or so often how do the numbers work out to 1 more ppg in 8 more mpg.  Mind you I think Karr stays.  But just wanted to point out its not as crazy as some think.

It's of course not crazy.  And if this year's class is weak, who knows?  If by some miracle SJU makes the tourney and JaKarr continues to improve, JaKarr's jump into the NBA this year goes from improbable to most likely, IMO.

I don't think that Mo dominated last year by any stretch (although he had a few ridiculous games, particularly Providence and Duke).  From a pure production standpoint, I think they are very similar, although Jakar is playing with a much better supporting cast.  My point is that from a pure skills/projection perspective, I can see why NBA teams were much higher on Mo than Jakar at this point.  And I don't think that prime time exposure or a team's success is as big of an impact on a player's draft position as others seem to believe.  Look at Duke, as an example.  They have had a lot of great or really good collegiate players who have been on the big stage consistently (and played well) and didn't sniff the top 20/first round.

I agree that it's not as big of a disparity as it is made out to be. However, Mo had 11 double doubles last year while Jakarr has 3 so far. Moe also had 7 times above 20 pts (2 over 30) to Jakarr's 3. I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that Moe was the guy on that team and Jakarr has had more people to share with.
My point is that while their overall numbers are the same (and I expect Karr's to get better as we finish up) Moe clearly had more games where he simply dominated the game. He also had his fair share of games where he scored between 4-8 pts. Numbers can certainly be misleading, but I think Moe was much more ready for the league as he had shown he could take over in every area.

Of our guys, he's the most ready, but he's not that stupid. Because being the most ready on our team, doesn't make you ready.

By your statement I dont really know how ready you think he is, but IMO he is far from it.
