This has been a hot topic lately, so I thought each game we could rate him from 1-10. 1 being Norm Roberts type ineptitude and 10 being John Wooden.
In today's game the only real issues I had were the following:
1. Had Obepka on the floor when it became obvious that Depaul was going to have to start fouling. Coach rectified this quickly and went offense / defense with him. Personally I would have gotten him completely out of there at that point.
2. Started to take the air out of the ball with the lead again, but was only for 3 or 4 possesions. Team started attacking again, which led to a couple bad shots, so sometimes you can't win.
The good:
1. Realized Greene was awful / hurt and quickly pulled the plug on "the human circle"
2. I 100% disagreed with crazy small lineup with Pointer / Garrett at the four, but they are using their quickness very well and as long as we don't start to get killed on the boards this seems to be working.
3. Realizing the very unpopular fact that we play better offensively and defensely w/o Obepka on the floor at this time. At the moment, and I am fan, Obepka is a one trick pony and limiting his minutes has worked very well. I guess that was what Lavin was referring to with that quote.
4. Quickly got Garrett out when the press had him throwing the ball around like Nuke Laloosh at the beginning of Bull Durham.
Overall grade would be a solid 8
