Amir is in a rut, shorter rotation has stifled his confidence.

Cam see that his game has regressed. To his credit, he's still there trying to get his teammates jacked up...

Something is up with Harrison. He shoots 40% and we're right there at the end.

While a loss is a loss, not a bad showing considering DLo gave us little.  Look, we win most of the games we are supposed to win and lose the games we are not.  Cant ask for more then that at this point. DePaul just took ND into OT , so much for ND, they r a middle f the pack team as are we.

Harrison had as many fouls as Moose in this game. Great effort son

Georgetown is better than us so this was to be expected. Branch injury kills all hope of NCAA though.

I really enjoy Obepka, but maybe instead of jumping out at EVERYONE He could you know try to get in position to grab a rebound or two.

Bourgault was put in an impossible situation. You really can't do anything in 2 minute spurts. His performance today makes Lavin seem foolish for burying him IMO

We got outplayed. Hopr Branch is OK. Im wondering if DLO is injured, he looked awfull. The only good thing I could say is Lavin finally played Marco, and he showed he can score,

Stupid staff, you don't sit in a zone all the way through the second half when you're down 10-15 and need the ball. Not saying don't play zone at all, but I mean you need/want the ball, why the hell are you sitting back and letting a Georgetown team who likes to run sets, run them under very little pressure. This game once again just reinforces the issues St. John's and their coaching staff has.

We don't play well against zone defenses. Entry pass to big is never made, or even attempted.
Very little on ball screens.
Very little/no screens for D'Angelo to buy him a little bit of space to shoot.
On screens, you never see the bigs roll, not even once. They'll either flare (JaKarr) or just turn and stand there (Obekpa).
Passive offensive strategy. Look at Obekpa when he's on offense. He pretty much stands on the block opposite the ball and on the baseline, not even trying to make himself a threat.
Their 'motion' or 'Princeton' offense that has cutters that don't look for the ball, present themselves as a threat.
Rely too much on a jump shot when overall we don't have the consistent jump shooters.
Nobody boxes out for rebounds.

I maintain my position that this team will never go far unless the players become disciplined and fundamentally sound on both ends of the floor. And this team will not go anywhere if they don't adjust their philosophies. If their goal is to win an NCAA title, they need to start running better sets like flex or a UCLA that features ball screens, screens to free players, and legitimate cutters, not this passive motion offense crap that gives our best threat the ball 30 feet from the basket and told to beat a defense and score almost by himself. I feel like this leads to D'Angelo feeling he has to carry the team offensively at all times, and forces him to take bad shots. We also don't have the shooters in my opinion to run a 4-out offense effectively.
Defensively, I think their 1-3-1 matchup is fine, and I'm fine with conceeding threes. But there needs to be an emphasis on people rebounding the basketball by boxing out. We get killed on boards by bigger teams because they just put a body on us and we're done.
Clearly I'm a more traditional basketball person, someone that enjoys watching a team like Duke play.
We have always played well against the likes of Notre Dame and Cincinnati, but against a solid Georgetown squad we struggle. Can't wait to play Syracuse, Louisville, USF; teams that are physical down low and place an emphasis on defense. Today to me was only the start. If teams are as smart as Georgetown, you shut down D'Angelo you win because we don't have anyone else that offers much in terms of being an individual threat.

Marco. who I have been calling for, will only be productive if hie teammates get him the ball in the right spot.  It is up to them to make him effective.  Even on some of his misses they were finally looking for him and late in the game someone even came over to give him a pick for his attempt=while in did not go in, it was a first for his teammates.  This may be something to build on from this game.  Maybe D'angelo becomes the decoy.

Forgot how deep we are as a team. We are a very small but talented team age and coaching are our biggest issues. Easily would of made it to the round of 32 with Gift and O. Sanchez
Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"

Marco should be used when teams try and zone us.  Between him and D'Lo on the wings and have Obepka post on the block or at the foul line and the second it collapses find the open shooter.  That will start opening up the floor for D'Lo and the rest of our offense.  You can sub Jones for Obepka in this situation.

They never look for the big when they face a zone though. If you go back to the tape, watch Obekpa in the second half. It's laughable.

Yes but I am sure that you would have expected something negative from me when you got just the opposite. I have been ill for a while. But thanks for your concern.
