I maintain my position that this team will never go far unless the players become disciplined and fundamentally sound on both ends of the floor.

This is likely to prove quite controversial, especially among those who think the players need to be inconsistent and sloppy to succeed.

While a loss is a loss, not a bad showing considering DLo gave us little.  Look, we win most of the games we are supposed to win and lose the games we are not.  Cant ask for more then that at this point. DePaul just took ND into OT , so much for ND, they r a middle f the pack team as are we.

Who woulda thought Linda would come back after we lose?

Yes but I am sure that you would have expected something negative from me when you got just the opposite. I have been ill for a while. But thanks for your concern.
His illness was probably a result of our 5 game winning streak.

Garrett sucks.
Think the word you are looking for is incredible.

Exactly.  The irony of returning today.

“@STJCoachLavin: Georgetown dominated most of the first half at both ends of the court and that was ultimately the difference in the game. #stjbb”

As Keady said after game, it was, at times, men against boys and we need to work hard to get stronger. We'll get there!

Obekpa has to play stronger down low on defense.  Lubick kept backing into him and O would just back up.  Stand your ground.  Maybe you get a call when he puts his shoulder into your chest.

“@STJCoachLavin: In the second half we held them to 33 percent from the field and outrebounded them by four. #stjbb”

“@STJCoachLavin: So our second half was closer to the level of play that we’ve had during our five-game winning streak. #stjbb”

“@STJCoachLavin: Such a small margin for error, if you have stretches where you don’t play at a high level, then you’re going end up with a loss. #stjbb”

Fair points Coach. Glad to see absence of "youngest team in the hemisphere" reference. Let's beat UConn!

I know I'm not the first to echo these sentiments, but God'sGift would really be a nice body to have right about now =\

at this point i want to see more of Marco, Jones, and Felix. I honestly think Garrett brings nothing to the team. Doesn't shoot well, gets beat everytime off the dribble. to me he is our worst schollie player. I know some might not like this but i just don't see anything with him

He's not a PF. It's like asking a WR to play TE.

There is no doubt he is currently struggling in or to find his role but he definitely brings stuff to the table. Just need to have him in more positions to succeed.

We really didn't play well again today.  Unfortunate because Georgetown brings their A-game vs SJU all the time lately.   We lotst too many 50/50 balls and a horrible first half did us in.  Harrison was terrible.  Jakarr fought it out, but IMO still wasn't a steadying force.  Smal positive was Bourgault.  He really picked up his game.  Showed me a lot of things I didn't think he had.  He sped up his release.  If he didn't have the shot, he faked, tools some steps and nailed the 2.  Bourgault showed much more today and that he is capable of minutes, not just playing statue in the corners.  More capable than I thought.  I hope he can continue to give us some minutes and play like he did today.  Never thought Georgetown was a good matchup for us this season and it remains the case.  Need to best uconn and steal some others though.  This is far from over...

P.s. I still think it was a huge mistake redshirting Gift.  He could have helped a ton on the interior today and we would probably have a few more wins had he played and given us some much needed strength, rebounding and post scoring this season.  He might not be spectacular, but he offers something we don't currently have and something that has been a factor in our losses.

Thought I remembered you as being pretty high on Marco before the season. Don't let some unsophisticateds sway your opinion. ;)

I was hoping for a long time to see the Marco we saw today.  In the limited time he earned this season,I just didn't think he was going to be able to play at this speed.  I didn't know much about Marco before the season.  Just knew he was a "shooter" who could also handle the ball a little bit etc.  I don't want to get too excited about one performance, but I hope he at least becomes a viable threat off the bench that teams have to be aware of.  Georgetown changed their defense late because of him.  I hope he can prove to be valuable to us down the stretch.  A lot of basketbsll to be played.  Time to best uconn, who I think we will beat...

Really disappointed in the team today. Second time we got pushed around and manhandled by G'town. Shouldn't be that easy for them.

Not the first time this season St. John's has struggled with a strong post player. They struggled mightily against Eugene Teague. Problem is JaKarr and Chris will let the big get position, allow them to get the ball, and then not be strong when backed down. I don't blame them for not being strong enough in the post, clearly their body types give them a disadvantage. My thing is I want to see JaKarr and Obekpa start fronting bigger guys more, make teams lob over. It's one facet I've noticed Dom is really solid at.
