Lavin on Marco;

"That’s an inspiration for all of us," Lavin said. "He’s been lower than a snake’s belly -- came here from junior college expecting to play, he’s gotten zilch run, had nothing but splinters in his fanny, and he stepped up today and had a hell of a game."

Just checked the box score again, how the hell does Phil continue to play 37 minutes and put up 16 shots??!!! And even worse for only 12 points. Meanwhile this guy Marco does the same thing in 13 minutes. This guy lavin is a mystery to me. Christian jones is a mystery as well why dosent he play more?!! And Amir only getting 11 minutes??

Yeah that quote made it sound like it was someone else fault Marco wasn't playing? Maybe Dunlap has been coaching by cell phone. That would explain the winning streak. Maybe Dunlap's phone died before today's game :)

Maybe we need to look past lav and start questioning his cabinet. A collection of 5 basketball minds Cannot all not see see what us Internet bloggers see in such plain sight. What advice does he get and what contributions are they actually making to the team, we're not recruiting right now, I see very minimal payer development and it looks like our play book was written on crumpled up loose leaf with a dull pencil. What do they do?

Some of you are giving Keady too much credit at this point. What is he 80. Until I saw his post game quotes I thought Lavin was pulling a weekend at Bernie's with him and just proping him up on the bench.

Simple--PG: Branch out for almost entire second half and D'angelo still hasn't made his first shot.  Who else could play PG?

Glad to see that things have returned to normal around here after one entirely predictable loss to a vastly superior team.  ;D

Question the cabinet all you want.  Final decision lays with the Lavin.

Defensive liability. Branch and Pointer playing on another level lately. Harrison being Harrison. There really isn't much minutes to be had.

However I think he's been misused like Tebow on the Jets. Today was first day I thought he played with purpose

Outside of Harrison St. John's didn't play that poorly offensively. The problem was on the glass not protecting their own basket. Can't give Hoya's second chances especially at home. I thought Greene, Pointer, and Sampson continued to play well.

Also Hoya's played awesome. They hit tough shots, moved the ball extremely well, and contested everything defensively. It's 1 game on the road which everyone penciled in as an L at the beginning of the season.

Next game is a better matchup with UConn. Less beef more guard play.

I don't think Greene is defensive wizard.  I know Marco is not a speed demon.  But its clear Phil deteriorates as the game goes on and he can be spelled a lot more.  Bottom line is we don't have shooters.  Stevie Wonder can see that.  I hope this was a coming out party and we can laugh about how long it took Lavin to play him come the end of March.

Your right.  Defensively was a nightmare.  They still run around like chickens with their head cut off.  And can we get some big body down low?  Anyone?  Bueller?

Gift would have worked there moose.  It's the one major issue I have with Lavin's roster management.  I agree with Dave,  this is the first game that Bourgault played with a purpose.  It showed.  Ever watch Marshall Henderson at Ole Miss run around the court?  If Marco ran half that much, he'd get plenty of shots.  Gotta play hard to get shots at is level.  Today he did.  IMO we would have won several games with Gift down low.  Gift wuldnt have gotten pushed around by Lubick who has had career days against us.  Gift would have kept us in both games with his strength and rebounding at minimum.

No way we win this game with Tim Duncan, let alone Gift.

If we had Tim Duncan we win by 20 at minimum.  With Gift, I said we are "in" both games, and plenty of Others that we lost.  We don't have anybody like him who can defend stron forwards, rebound and provide some post scoring.  Gift is a solid if unspectacular player that would have helped tonight and in plenty of other games this season.  I'm happy to have him back next year.  Gift can rebound far better than anybody we have right now.  He's also capable on offense around the rim.

These are numbers for God'sgift last year against Georgetown. I'm not sure how much of a difference he would have made if any today.
