Maryland trying to beat Duke.  A win by them might hurt us...but it is so hard to root for Duke.

Fwiw, Seth Davis on halftime show just touted SJU as team to "watch out for" in terms of getting in Tourney, provided they finish strong.

IMO we need to beat two of three top 25 teams remaining on schedule (Pitt, Marquete, ND). Likely loss at ND so need to win all our home games. Grabbing a win at Providence would also be a plus. Could come down to us or Nova for a final spot. Similar records, they beat us, and also beat Cuse and Louisville. They also play Pitt and Marquette in their last five games. If we play Nova in the BET an NCAA tourney bid could be on the line.

Need to beat both USF and Pitt along with decent run in BET to have a shot.

Why those two? What about the other 3 teams.
Agree that we can't lose to south Florida.

This team needs a good run in the BET and make it to the Friday night semi's to gain credentials for the NCAA's.  Get Branch back in good shape and can get to 9-9.  Then the BET is their NCAA's.

USF and Providence are must win games for the Johnnies.  If they were somehow able to win 2 of 3 against Pitt, Notre Dame, and/or Marquette, then I think it'll be exceptionally hard for the committee to keep them out.

If they are unable to pull that off, then I think they'll have to make a real nice run in the conference tournament to have a chance.

i think dave mentioned those games because they're our 2 most winnable remaining home games. maryland is going to be in, we dont need to worry about them. the team we should be deathly afraid of is villanova. they beat us head to head and have 2 marquee wins against syracuse and louisville. going to be nearly impossible to pick us over them if it comes down to head to head.

i still think we control our own destiny so to speak. as of today our RPI is 58 and our SOS is a very strong 18 (and we still play 3 ranked teams).  10 big east wins and 20 overall should do the trick. not impossible but easier said than done obviously.

South Florida is lousy, but who do we ever beat convincingly? Therefore, that is toughest game on remaining schedule. Win that and the next game is. Remember DePaul nail biter.

Got to get a comfortable win against South Florida, lets hope Branch can get a few minutes of burn to get ready for the stretch run

Against Providence got to run and tire them out but they have dangerous scorers and experience

Even though ND is a road game, got to make them beat us from outside and get in Cooley's head again. I just don't think they shoot as poorly second time around but ND has been vulnerable and up and down all year.

Marquette is going to be the toughest game I think. They always have our number.

Pitt is a lot like us but Adams has been playing better and I like their guards a lot.

Good point.  But as pointed out by another Johnny supporter the crappy BE teams bring out the best in Sir Dom.  Who could forget Sir Dom's Dominance down the stretch of the DePaul game.  He gave us a good late show that night.  The thing I don't like going into this next game is the Lou bobble head give away.  That may draw a packed crowd which means it will be about 90 degrees up where we sit.  The last time it was that hot a few smart old guys ended the game in their undershirts.

I think the Johnnies and PC are two of the rising programs in the league.  It is going to be an interesting game in Providence with the winner gaining an advantage on the 8th slot.

A loss to USF would be humiliating.  It's amazing that their only BE win was against G'town.

I'd like to know the percentage of teams who made it with 17 and 18 wins.

I recall a recent SU team that went 10-6 but didn't make it bec of a wimpy preseason schedule. Ours wasn't as much wimpy as it was poor. For us, it will come down to finishing strong. Pitt and Marquette aren't works beaters. We need to take them out on our court, or we don't deserve to go.
