I would not mind d'lo leaving after this year

Yes, he's stinking it up over the past few weeks, but the guy is second in BE in scoring going into this game. He's young and volatile and needs to mature.  We're a better team with him -- especially when his head is in the game.

Keep in mind, this is the second consecutive year his head coach has had significant off-court distractions. I'm hoping D'lo is back – older, smarter and with Coach Lavin's full attention.

Who is this color guy? He's an awful announcer.

Dan Dakich.  He mentioned Indiana more times than either team on the court.  ESPN welcomes comments on their announcers.  The number is 1-888-549-3776, option 3.  If ESPN is smart they will keep this guy covering games in farm country.  He did no homework for this game - knew nothing about this St John's team and nothing about the past history of this rivlary.  It is one thing to be obssessed with Big Ten hoops, but at least hide it and be prepared to cover the teams on the court.

He sounded drunk the entire time.

Only correct comment he made was about us dribbling aimlessly.

From the sound of it he will go help Jimmy B undress after the game.  If I heard about Mt Rushmore one more time.

After this sh*t storm game I got some satisfaction complaining about that Big Ten jerk.  The guy on the phone sounded like he heard from others.

I am sick of Obekpa this year.  He is the worst offensive player I have ever seen and be should have had about 20 points on putbacks if he had 1/20th the desire or quickness of Sampson.  I dont want to hear about his blocked shots For the rest if the year because he would be riding the pine on any top team in the country.

Seriously? Shouldn't need to point it out after today, but we're not one of the top teams in the country. We're a young team with good raw talent. Better than we've had in years. Do we really have to dump over our best guys because they're not the best guys in the country yet?

I grant you that Obekpa needs to add some muscle and improve his offensive game. Not exactly a news flash.

Guys we don't want Harrison going anywhere.  We desperately missed Branch today, especially when Marco was mis-firing early.  No penetration against the zone, and Branch would have helped that, as well as given us another shot-maker.  We cut the lead to single digits a number of times in the second half, and were a basket or two away from making it interesting.  Without Marco and D-Lo shooting well, we had little chance against the zone.

Without Harrison, this team would have 5 wins.

And let's relax with Obekpa.  Yes, he is not far from polished offensively.  But his presence changes games, and he is the best shotblocker we have had in god knows how long.  I expect him to grow leaps and bounds on the offensive end next year (as well as on the boards) and when he does, he will be a force.

Phil Greene
2 pts in 2nd half.  As always he trails off.

Agree Poison.  And as I've said before, it is difficult to tell on TV what a guy's body language actually means.  Every team in the Big East would sign up for Harrison in a nanosecond.

I'm really tired of getting beat by Syracuse. They have been bullying us for over 10 years. You have to go back to Artest and those guys for the last time a St. John's team wasn't scared or in awe of Cuse.

Hence my comment Moose about missing Branch.  Allows us to maximize Phil's value by playing him less minutes and off the ball.

We played them pretty well in the Big East tourney in 2010, even after Kennedy went down.  We weren't scared -- they are a better team, one of the best in the country with Southerland.  And they are probably the worst matchup for us in the BE because of their length, size and the zone.

Not bashing Phil, but again he had a lot of shots, 13, and hit 4. Consider Sampson had 14 shots. I know Branch was out and Cuse plays zone, but you can't tell me this is a positive trend. You can't have a guy taking 13 or 14 shots a game, shooting 30%.

You also cant have a guy play the point for 37 minutes and have one assist. The circle was in full effect today.

Lavins staff is incompetent when it comes to in game coaching. Man to man defense please.

And the stats will never show it but Phil greene's lack of "turnovers" has cost us countless amounts of possessions this year. Seriously, you can't even count how many.

the great thing about Obeka and Gods Gift is that they are getting our name out there outside if basketball. The great thing about them is that they seem like genuinely great people, and what makes Obeka special is that he is only a freshman. Is it annoying that Obeka should be more of an offensive force yes. Overall he is a great ambassador to St. John's and we need all the attention that we can get....especially since we can't fill the Garden...

But nobody on our team was even close to Greene's level today.

According to Dan Dakich.

We are missing a PG that can penetrate and run the show effectively.  Branch certainly better than Phil at doing that.  A kid like Rysheed cando that and is a heck of an athlete as well.  We are still missing a few pieces against a team like Cuse.  We didn't play very well today and still made a comeback.  Had we OT started out so far down and played better D(man ahem..) instead of a poor zone all day, we might have challenged even more.
