"3. Creighton drew 18,613 fans to the Missouri Valley Conference title showdown against Wichita State Saturday in Omaha. The Bluejays regularly draw 17,000 and rank sixth nationally in attendance. The majority of the departing Big East Catholic 7 schools would love to average that attendance. And this is exactly why Creighton is the favorite to be the 10th team when the league is formed with Xavier and Butler. The new Big East wants basketball-centric schools where the facilities and fan base provide a basketball atmosphere that rivals any other school in the country. Flying to Omaha is a connection through Chicago for a number of schools. Providence, Seton Hall, DePaul and St. John's should and likely will welcome Creighton. Marquette is already on board. Georgetown and Villanova shouldn't have issues, either."

Why Creighton over VCU? VCU is closer, and it's not in Nebraska, a state w no business playing in this conference.

Flyover state right?

Ever been to Omaha? I have. It's awful.

I loved Omaha. The College World Series was one of my biggest sports highlights. The old town area was nice.
I agree it's not the biggest town in the USA but they briong a good athletic department.

Anyone know if they average that many year in and year out, or if its because they're borderline top 25 with a college superstar like McDermott? If they average that many no matter what, God bless them...thats awesome.

That's nice. I'm glad someone enjoyed it. That said, I want no part of a school in Nebraska. We're the Big East, and it's time we learned from our mistakes. There is nothing about Creighton that we can't find in a school either on the east coast, or close to it.

Thanks man. Good for them, seems like its already a good atmostphere...put them in a bigger conference and I bet the place will be electric, with or without McDermott.

If it were up to me I would add Butler Xavier Dayton VCU and Richmond but I know that won't happen. St Louis and Creighton will be members at some point.

Best idea is to try to emulate Duke.  They play in an old 9K seat arena.  If they didn't have Coach K and the basketball history they do, they could have been a Creighton, Butler or whomever.  Coaching, history and support for the programs make them what they are.

As far as Creighton goes, being in Nebraska is fine.  They have a fervent fan base, grest support for heir program and now will be able to bring in even better talent in a better conference.   I too like schools like VCU, but I totally understand if the new Big East wants to only include private schools and not publics as there is a difference in how they are run.

I think the eastern schools will need one more "eastern" school to make split divisions though if we go to 12 teams.  Guessing that might be a school like Richmond, but not sure.

The Hall?

How could anyone forget such an important program? The spirit of New Jersey has got to be part of the new Big East.

While they got great school spirit and facility and are makin noise this year, I am firm of belief that Creigton is a lil too far away and Omaha is too small a market compared to a school like St. Lou. or VCU.

While the Midwest expansion is essential, I believe another East Coast School like VCU or Richmond is essential to maintain a balance.

That is all.

Yes, become part of MAAC, whose tourney is not televised with exception of final.

i'm not crazy about being associated with Fox either, but if Fox rolls this out appropriately how great will it be to have one of our games come after a key Sunday football game, or having Gus Johnson as the announcer, or Erin Andrews on the sidelines again.  there's potential for this deal to really take off.  but Fox has to cross-promote the hell out of it.

Alright.  If we must than let's truly embrace it.  O'reilly and Hannity doing the game with Coulter doing interviews and working the sidelines in a short skirt and revealing blouse.
