He also made Harrison look like a comedian out there.  Poor poor body language as he got older.

Uhhh...Sean Evans!

Sean Evans didn't really get better - he finally had a coach that made him play to his strengths as a player and got the results.

If Norm had done that for the previous 3 years, he might have been an All Big East player by the time he was a senior. The kid had a lot of ability but it was never developed or molded properly because of the horrendous coaching.

Mo Hicks is limited in what he is actually permitted to do.

One thing he definitely not permitted to do is get on the court and actually coach the players in practice.

Or actively recruit.

In all seriousness, what does he do? I actually have no idea.

Speaking of staff, one of our announcers had funny line about Pope being named today;

“@BrandonTierney: That's a lot of white smoke. Hopefully, the munchies don't delay the announcement.”

Ed:  I'm sure that fans don't know the ins-and-outs of your staff, and what some of your assistant's responsibilities are.  Then again, we do know that your lead recruiter missed out on Sampson and Sanchez.

I know what you did though -- you had a nice year, though I think your team has more talent than others gave them credit for (and having good upperclassmen helps).  Unfortunately, your guys didn't play well today, and deprived you of the opportunity to wave your arms in the air and implore the crowd to get up and cheer, as you did when you beat us a few weeks ago.  By the way, squeaking one out where we didn't have Harrison and Branch is still limping around isn't exactly NC St. beating Houston in the final.  You are supposed to win that game at home.

Someone can explain it better but a DOBO is like a glorified secretary to the basketball program.  Its a foot in the door and DOBO's then move up onto the staff.  They have no coaching or recruiting responsibilities.  Pretty sure when he was hired it was said that a DOBO can't even attend practices or something crazy.

Chutney Gray and also Reggie Jesse.
Gray played because Jarvis had no bench. He got on the court vs. Zags, went wild nuts, and threw the game away. Had balls but was a crazy man.Liked him, nice kid,  but after game wanted to kill 'em.

No.  Embargo only affects players he has coached and it is 2 yrs.  Just prevents schools from stashing a HS or AAU coach in a non coaching position to attract a kid.

If an opening develops on our staff heard Lavin is interested in Renaldo Balkman so if Harrison rolls his eyes next season Balkman can choke him.  :)  Seriously did you guys see him go off on refs and teammates. Was fined and banned from the league he was playing in . Another great find by Isaiah Thomas-not!  ::)

I have criticized coach Lavin mostly to bust on the posters that viewed him as some sort of holy figure beyond criticism. Honestly despite some of his questionable game coaching, I totally believed that his stature, personality and above all his recruiting would ultimately get us back to the Louie years.

This year was rough though and did put a real crack in my beliefs. Lavin's behavior towards end of the season has been pretty bizarre. The Harrison situation(whether deserved or not goes on Lavin's record), playing two different walkons during important stretches of games including in the BET was just odd. And what was with that Pointer instructional video? I have never seen anything like that! Was it really that important to draw attention to yourself and embarrass Pointer to show him how to guard an inbounds pass???? Very odd!
