NIT bracketology

Having Harrison at the end of the season and now in the NIT would have been so much more interesting. At least we'd be able to go into battle with all our troops. Without Harrison I just don't see how any SJ fans can be confident.

I am not confident in as much as I see it as a small step towards being a consistent NCAA team.

Getting our bench playing time is uber important carrying over to next year. Can't replicate this type of game experience for our guys including Balamou, Jones, Branch etc.  The more time against competition, the better.

Agree.  And postseason experience, even in the NIT is invaluable - especially with so many frosh and sophs, for when they ARE in the big dance.

Sorry if I'm coming off as a negative nancy bringing the board down...that's honestly not my aim at all and is not inteneded. It has just been a very rough end to the season losing 7 of 8, Branch injured and still not the same, Lavin missing when we needed him most, and Harrison off the team.

Nobody likes it.  Nobody is happy we gave up a possible NCAA bid because of Harrison and coach suspending him.  Only a few ways to improve the situation which are to continue to play in a tourney like the NIT and aim to play well.  We also need to bring Harrison back, and we need a better Harrison.  Lavs also needs to press to land Rysheed Jordan.  There will be a spot for him if he commits, I have no doubt whether it be Hooper as walk-on, etc.  I didn't want to play in the CBI, but this NIT field is actually quite competitive.  Need to take it seriously.

Can this team play more 20 minutes of basketball? Will they even care about this game? It is often the motivated team that wins the NIT game. Lavin got lucky getting into this tournament. He needs to make something of it.

Yea, but they're an A10 team. They couldn't possibly be our equal. We are a Big East team, and we've beaten teams that a lowly A10 team couldn't dream of beating like Notre Dame.

They have a decent shot. Not a great shot, but it's a shot. I hope they come out and want it. Otherwise it will be a long offseason of complaining.

Look at the bright side.  If at the beginning of the year you told me we would be in the same tourney as Kentucky and Baylor I would have been pumped!
