They only bright spot is that they cut us early enough for the staff to make up ground elsewhere. Larrier?

To me recruits mentioning us often means little. Imo, Zimmerman, for example, is not likely. Mudiay is another example. Goodluck, is also unlikely. When kids schedule visits, I feel we always have a chance, since Lavin closes well. Until that point, it is silly to theorize how strong we are with kids. Tempering expectations has worked for me.

Agree here.  We're pretty loaded at guard.  If we don't land who we want we can easily wait til 15' for a guard.  Terrell isn't a "must-have" kinda guy.  Whitehead is but he seems to want to head elsewhere.

Abu isn't the last guy either.  Larrier, Delgado etc.  tons of kids still out there and Lavin always lands an excellent class.  No reason to expect any different this year.

Feiw, I hope both Abu and Terrell go to Providence.  A strong overall conference is paramount to our success overall.

Agree on Providence comment. Don't get your hopes up for Delgado. Not the end of world, have to trust staff to get a solid big or two from HS or Juco ranks I suppose. Fifth year transfer is always an option, although not preferable, these days.

Isn't this what we are always saying at this time of year, and then Lavin has a top class by the spring?  Tons of time and players out there.

Yes.  No complaints about previous results, but the last minute pattern is a little concerning, especially now that we have 3-4 ships to fill.  Thankfully this is shaking out in August instead of October.

I guess, but it does look like we have a long way to go for 2014 in a relatively short period of time.

Serious question - who are we actually recruiting right now?  No Abu or Terrell.  Chukwu seems to be headed to PC or UCONN.  Were we ever recruiting Delgado?  IW a longshot.  Backed off Carrington.  It's not too late to make up ground, but who are we even targeting currently?  Is it Larrier or bust?  Are we even seriously recruiting him?  I can't even presently identify 3 potential players to fill the 3 definite scholarship openings.

That's a valid question Chudney.     I'm not alarmed, I'm confident we'll end up with a solid class, because Lavin really has never given us a reason to think otherwise.  All he does is produce on the recruiting trail.
But at the same time I'm reeling in my expectations in a little bit.   I don't think an A+, breakthrough-type class is in the cards anymore.    With the exception of Whitehead, there doesn't appear to be a blue chipper we're close enough with to even take a swing at.
Which is OK, we can win a ton of games with less heralded top100 talent.  But I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought this could be the year we landed an all american (or two)

One man's opinion;

“@jeffborzello: After visiting Florida earlier this week, Abdul-Malik Abu is on NC State's campus today. Likely to choose one of them on Saturday.”

He did say awhile back he preferred going to school in the South.

The only kid SJU recruited hard I am really disappointed didn't give SJU more consideration.
