Agree with Moose.  Pitt game was a sea of red.  Search YouTube for Hardy game winner over Pitt.  Try to spot the Pitt fans.

I don't remember it that way either. To me it was closer to 2/3 - 1/3. Or at least it sounded closer to that since most of our fans sit on their hands and never root. I know there was a large group of Pitt fans sitting in the section next to me, and if Hardy misses that shot it would've been very "unpleasant" listening to them.

Thanks Marcus. I'll give it 70/30 but of course when you shoot the student section, which is overwhelmingly red, it skews the perception a bit. Especially when you show the game winning shot where the SJU fans go crazy. I remember several dedicated Pitt sections as well as the upper deck all around the arena. I know it would've been disturbingly loud if we miss the shot, moreso then what 15 % of the fans could cause. Still great fun to watch that video though.

the reality likely is somewhere in the middle.  Can totally depend or your immediate surroundings... the sections around you.

It does look pretty red in that video, and it was certainly a great experience.   I'm just relaying that I remember it being 70/30.
The larger point though was just that a conference tournament is different than a regular season game and I think Pitt and Louisville fans in addition to UNC duke etc would show up in NYC for a tournament.

Lets hope we never see that.

It was closer to 85-15 I think.

Why won't this story just go away, is it ACC arrogance or is the Garden not in our corner.
It's starting to piss me off.

The only way to combat this constant intrusion is to put an outstanding product on the floor. Control what you can. Win and play an exciting brand of hoops. If that's not good enough, so be it.

Two crucial things that will really help us out.
1. St. John's is revelant again and becomes a marquee name with Georgetown.
2. BE has a whole needs to be revelant and exciting. Fox can only do so much.

What will help us is as of now MSG won't be a rotational tournament location. That would be beneath the "Mecca of Basketball".
How much longer will Boheim, K. ,Williams be around? MSG screws the rest of the ACC, except the schools that do not need help and the former BE schools. BC desperately needs something...

Exactly right Paultz.   Control what we can.  If coach can continue to recruit and put the guys in position to win, then St Johns basketball will be fine, regardless of what the ACC does.
And fwiw, I don't expect MSG to be in our corner.  I expect them to go in the direction that will be most profitable.   Hopefully a sold out BE tournament meets that requirement.

Doesn't the acc rotate their location? No way the garden would give up a locked in long term renter for a rotating acc. If the acc is willing to play there every year it could be trouble. Until the we just have to worry about the big east putting on a good product and selling the place out.

Not sure profitability is the issue. ACC has more teams and more games. It would probably be the most profitable tournament for MSG. Duke and North Caroline do not speak for the ACC though, they will not have a easy time convincing the rest of the league that it is best for them. If that sentiment is shared by Wake forest, NCST, and the likes, then it may be disconcerting.

You really think the premier basketball conference would make the tournament earlier and not part of Championship week?  I don't see that.

Do the 3 schools the BE added have the kind of fans that will travel to the Garden in the spring? If we go to 12 and add a St. Louis would they come? I figure VCU might bring some fans. Who can we add that has fans that would travel? Dayton? Richmond?

Dayton will travel. Had the most fans at Charleston Classic last season (about 1,000) and I think they would come to NY for BE T as they love their Flyers.

We need to win and we need providence to continue their momentum and Seton Hall to also improve.  These are two teams that are close to MSG and will help pack it big east tourney time.  Providence also has a lot of alums in the NYC area if they continue with this strong momentum that could be another strong Garden game for us in the future.

Providence is the smallest school in the traditional BE by far.  Do they really have THAT many alums?

Long Island has a lot of young alums or current students who go up there, you'd be surprised.

I know of 2 people who went there.  Both couldn't pick Cooley out of a lineup.  Never recall them really have many fans at games vs us or the BET.
