From Lenn's article;

"The Johnnies were on the verge of being a surprise NCAA Tournament team last season until star guard D’Angelo Harrison was suspended for the final four games of the regular season for conduct detrimental to the team.

If he doesn’t return, the Red Storm’s need for a 3-point threat increases from significant to dire. Hooper could be the Red Storm’s Hancock."

Not a conspiracy theorist, but find it odd Lenn makes another Harrison "iffy"return reference two days in a row. I have felt he would return, but wonder if LR is being fed something. Probably nothing, but I assume STJ had input. Why the uncertainty?
Maybe I missed something, but I thought message was he is returning. If so, express it as such.

I know people will rip Max for his shooting videos and say there's no defense and he's standing in the same spot...I just hope that his teammates have the same dedication.  That kid is in the gym everyday working on his game.  I hope the rest of the team has the same work ethic!...and to those people who talk about his 80% 3pt during workouts like they could do that...keep dreaming.  That definitely takes skill and conditioning.  Half of the naysayers couldn't even get to 300 shots without calling it quits.

If it rains tomorrow I would need a rain jacket if it doesn't I won't.

If Lenn had inside info he would not hesitate to state it claiming sources told him.

There is zero to that statement other then Harrison has not been fully reinstated yet thus until then technically there is a chance for any outcome.

To the topic of Hooper, he may not be the best athlete in the world, but there is always a role for deadeye shooters.  They mention Hancock, but there have been tons of others over the years.  Hooper is he kind of shooter other teams will have to account for.  If he's unconscious taking them, it can really spread teams out unlike the past when they packed it in on us.  He will be a role player only, but hoping he can be a threat in his time out there.

If we run the same offense next year Hooper will be a non factor!

A bit of Hyperbole.  Marco, Phil and Jamal shot 45 for 202 from 3 last year.   IF (big if) Max is the 48% 3 pt shooter he appears to be (from every level he's played at) and was getting those same shots (in the same offense),  that  would have been nearly 6 additional points a game - over 70 per vs the 66 we gave up.   It wasn't the offense, it was that the 3s didn't go in.  Had they GONE in, we'd also have TAKEN more 3s in that offense.

That said, the offense WILL change - because Rysheed can actually get the ball to open shooters for open looks, or drive and dish or drive and finish on his own.

Max will be huge with a PG like Jordan.  IF he continues his career long accuracy.

One problem with the article I have, is that there STILL isn't any explanation WHY Max played only 2 games as a frosh.  Len quoted Amaker - who SEEMED to believe Max is an effective 3 pt shooter.  And Miles Simon certainly isn't a "nobody" in terms of hoops talent - he's the 1997 NCAA Tourney MVP (and like Hooper, from Mater Dei High - it's Simon's career 3pt mark Max BROKE at Mater Dei)....

Why worry so much about one player. He wants to be here and do things the right way, fine. If not someone else gets his time. If one player makes your program, you don't have one. Steve gonna get us a bunch of good players. He's just getting started. Steve responsible for a few kids with much at stake, and their future can't be jeopardized. Thats why everything must be proper. If Harrison wants to be here, a lot not being asked of him. Only the usual stuff. I don't think there is a guy on this board that should be overly concerned. If you can't help it I understand, but not right for you to put yourselves through any unpleasantness. Go Storm.

This team can be good without Harrison. It can be great with him.

My guess is that he played on a veteran team and had to wait his turn

Regardless of his mysterious tenure at Harvard we will find out soon enough if he can score at this level. Will be awesome if he can.

Hyperbole? Using a kid who could not play at Harvard, High School stats to predict he will help a team that does not move the ball or pass well, now that is hyperbole. Besides the three guys you mentioned plus Pointer, the walkon(I forgot his name) that Lavin loved and on the off chance Harrison comes back will all play , so I am not sure where the kid will get his minutes even if he is the second coming of Rick Mount.

The question with Hooper I keep asking myself is, would he be on this team if he was not good friends with Sampson?  I don't know the answer, but it would be a small miracle, and a great story, if Lavin discovered a gem sitting on Harvard's bench.

We are all wondering that. Still, I think it's a refreshing change that we've recruited a guy that can shoot. Maybe he's slow on defense. We really don't play much d anyway.

I hope the kid is a great shooter and has a great career at SJU.

One thing that caught my attention. He is going to be a red shirt Sophomore next year and is already 21 years old - DAMM

Not a miracle if he can play. Tommy recruits good players which he choose to play over a freshmen. If Hooper turns out to be Mike Dunlevy good, then Tommy gets beat up over letting him get away. I don't think there's a reason to think he can't play. I consider that being able to fill a role.

If Hooper turns out to be Mike Dunlevy

Mike Dunleavy was only the third pick in the NBA draft. I expect Hooper to be much better than that.

He ain't going to be Dunleavy it's not close. Hope for one of those mid-major type planted shooters that has always killed us.  With the other guys we have on the court, teams will likely not be able to prioritize Hooper with their better defenders anyway.  He will be a role-player when we need a guy out there to help break zones and spread things out.

The American Marco Bourgault would be my guess.

BTW you know you have gone overboard with your "homerism" when even MCNPA is taken aback by a ridiculous player comparison.
