http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/jeff-goodman/post?id=378He lists 12 for 2014. The following had or have SJU ties.
3. Abdul Malik Abu- He fasted until sundown each day due to his religious beliefs, but was still among the hardest-playing guys every time he took the court. The 6-8 power forward owns the glass, and is more skilled than people realize. His stock continues to soar. His final 10: UConn, Florida, Kentucky, Miami (FL), Providence, NC State, St. John’s, UCLA, Iowa State and Kansas State.
6. Goodluck Okonoboh- One year ago, he was buried on a bench for Leo Papile’s BABC program. Now the 6-9 Boston native has emerged as one of the most sought-after big men in the country with Vin Pastore’s Mass Rivals outfit. He’s not quite as tall as his buddy Nerlens Noel, but he’s similar in the fact he’s a defensive presence, a big-time shot-blocker and is raw on the offensive end. He has a lengthy list, with Duke and Indiana both in the mix.
He then lists 4 to watch from 2015 and 2016 combined.
1. Tyler Dorsey- Dorsey is so, so smooth. Some want to peg the Los Angeles native as a developing point guard, but he has the size at 6-4 and the ability to score in a variety of ways that will make him a star on the wing. He can make deep 3s, has step-back jumpers, can get to the basket and also handles the ball. He’s just a rising junior, so his recruitment is still in its early stages with no apparent front-runners at this juncture.
2. Stephen Zimmerman- The 7-foot Las Vegas native may not be the best player in the Class of 2015, but he’s surely one of them. The lefty big man plays hard on both ends, runs the floor well, can score in the post and also on the perimeter, blocks and alters shots and rebounds outside of his area. Some of the schools in the mix are UNLV, Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana, Arizona, Ohio State, UCLA, Louisville, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Baylor and St. John’s.
