I think you're vastly underrating Penn State.. Granted we shoulda won that game but they looked solid and that kid Frazier looked like a player.. Even the next day they gave Ole Miss all they could handle, and they're probably one of the top four or five teams in the SEC

Frazier is arguably one of the top 2 guards in the Big Ten.  He was second in scoring and first in assists in the Big Ten last year.  Newbill was also an All Big Ten player.  They hsve one of the best, arguably best backcourt in the Big Ten.  Their frontcourt is where they lack, but they are a vy solid team.

Newbill and Frazier were every bit as good as you say they were... and Penn State still won 2 league games last season.   Dead last in the Big 10.   They lost 14 straight games at one point.
Stop saying they're a solid team when you didn't watch the game!   They aren't that good.

Improving, not solid. Finishing behind MSU, Michigan, OSU, Wisconsin, Iowa & Indiana won't equate to a quality loss for us IMO.

Why did Jakarr Sampson propel himself 5 feet in the air on a pump fake with 6 seconds to go, 25 feet away from the basket while we're leading by two?
Because he's out of control on both ends of the court. He needs coaching badly, and if he does not pay attention he goes nowhere. His game begs to be a four year player.

Are you saying they're all better than Penn State?  Because I would agree.
That would make PSU the 10th team in their league.   What's solid about that?

Purdue is bad.  I think Penn State's upside is 7th, ahead of all of those teams but Iowa.  Either way - a legit NCAA tournament team should handle a middle-to-bottom B1G opponent in a quasi-home game in a normal year.  We are firmly on the bubble and need to take care of business before conference play.  Cannot lose to anyone but Cuse.

can we beat seton hall, depaul twice, and xavier or butler twice, and then split with georgetown, creighton, villie, marq, providence except for once....that would make us  11-7 in the big east and we'd probably need to win two games in the beast tournament...not impossible

I think if we're gonna lose games that we should win, we have to win games that we are not expected to win to make up for those losses. In 2010, we lost to Fordham and St.Bonnaventure, but we beat Duke, Pitt, Marquette, Nova, Georgetown and WV.

As far as Penn State goes, I don't think they're big enough to really do damage in the Big Ten, and while their guards looked good agdinst us, they basically played well because we were not prepared to stop their penetration. They got into the lane at will.

Hopefully, we ditch the zone, and use it only in rare circumstances. Personally, I'm really disappointed in coach for not teaching these kids how to stay with you damn man. The fact that we waited until our 7th game to go to a press is mind boggling. But, if it took 7 games to figure this out, I don't like it, but at least it's occurred before the BE has begun.

Think penn st. Was good comparing to a Mid level big east team. As good as Villanova from last year. We lost , but it was a fun game to go to.

I watched the game, and PSU the following night against Ole Miss.  I said we shoulda won and I'm not going to sit here and try and sell you on Penn State being a meaningful loss because it's not.  I just said they looked solid both nights.  I don't think it's fair to sit there and dismiss them as a "two-win team last year" and then act like we should be dominating anyone.  What big wins did we have last year? The game at Cincy and the home game at ND?  It's a game in November, it's not going to make or break us.  This team is capable of a lot whenever they put it all together, as evidenced by the second half in the Wisconsin game and the GT game the other night.  Just have patience.

hnk, you broke that down perfectly. Our lack of performance in the OOC has left us in the position of making the dance not impossible. I guess things change if we beat the Cuse. Of course if we have a unexpected loss we gonna have to go 13-5 in conference. Losing to Penn. St. a bad loss. I can't be sold on the idea that they're a good team. Coach says we could be good by January. Maybe we can win 13 in the BE. Do you guys think the team is ready to play every game to the max?

Wisky plays Marquette on Sat.  Who do we want to win? Which is better for us?

They don't do that in basketball.   Of course, we do a bunch of things they don't do in basketball.  I think I'd rather Wisky wins.  Could be a great game.

Still early, but it wouldn't shock me to see them in the final four. I think they'll have almost 30 wins headed into the tournament.

I'd rather see Marquette win. That would be better  for the BE. then. when we beat Marquette it would be that n much sweeter.

Figured I'd let everyone know Wisconsin won before HNK gets a chance to.
