Didn't see the game. Sounds like a terrible way to blow a solid come from behind effort.

Horrendous way to go down after the big come-back.

Though truth be told, Penn State blew it.. and we needed Harrison to hit a miracle runner of a two-pointer late in the second half.. it was a poor shot that somehow went in.

34 FT attempts for PSU v. 13 for SJU. Speaks to smart team taking ball to hoop v. Our nonsense.

This is why we lost the game. It goes to show you how terrible our dribble penetration is that we can't take advantage of the new rules. Did Jordan play much? Box score shows he was nonexistent.

I've been pretty much quiet up until this game... but wtf  goes on in our practices. we have the worst iq in the country. i though this is why we bought whitsell in

IQ is not fair.  Harrison makes both free throws and are you saying how DUMB PSU is for fouling Harrison?

Were they dumb when they made the 18-3 run?

This team can score.  But they cannot fall behind by 15 in the second half and try to fight back.  These bad starts are going to burn them.   It is going to define the season.

Almost 4-1 free throw disparity in Penn States favor.  I didn't see the game, but that seems a bit excessive, no?  Anybody who saw the game..  Was it called fairly?  Hate to lose another game when one schmo like Frazier shoots twice as many free throws as our entire team.  These revisited rules have ruined the game and negated any aggressive defensive play.  It has become like soccer.

Jordan was non-existen... Branch made some turnovers in the 1st half, so i understand why he was benched... but not sure why Jordan always gets the boot... I know it was partially a function of Greene and Hooper playing well, but still... with Harrison and Sampson forcing all kinds of shots, you'd figure that Sanchez and Jordan would get some more playing time.

Surprised...  Frazier shot 20 free throws!  Was he getting Arcidiocono-like calls on these?  I can never figure out how one guy gets double the calls of an entire team.  Sounds like in some ways we played our best game yet, but fouls killed us down the stretch.  I'm disappointed here.  I knew this game was going to be an issue.  Oh well..  Move on and win...

There were some positives though. The emergence of Hooper, the fact that we were a Harrison 80% free throw away from winning, and the 18-3 run. This team has potential, but the defense. Yikes! I'm assuming Jordan's not too happy after this one.

Yeah just bad fouls by SJU but again that is a product of falling behind by double figures.  They needed to play more pressure D and they did but again that will lead to nickel dimers especially when you have 2 guards like PSU has.  And those fouls add up and before you know it they are in the bonus.

PSU simply did not miss late 4th and OT.  They must have made 12+ straight FT's.

Again Harrision makes both and SJU walks out with a win.

Two ways to look at this.  Disappointing loss after a really poor defensive effort the first 30 minutes of the game?  Or holding PSU to 33% in the second half and outscoring them 28-13 to end the game and using that to fuel the rest of this year.

As Fordham noted, we can't fall behind like we did. We are simply not smart or good enough to make up large deficits readily. I appreciate the effort getting back in the game, but what frustrates me is the total absence of intelligent play, especially on defensive end, You are right, move on!

Our team would rather foul then play D. If coach made guys sit with 2 fouls that might help. Right now my feeling is this team is lazy and really doesn't care about winning. I hope I'm wrong because I don't know if thats fixable. I hope Sampson becomes a winning player. Tonight both he and Harrison spit the bit.

Jordan only shot 5 free throes for the game.  It's not like he crashed and burned.  Was a bad one timing-wise, becuse it was our game to win with that free throw.   Gotta make it.

You have to be kidding me. We are one of the lowest IQ teams I've ever seen. That  team with this much experience makes these kind of mistakes is mind blowing. Sampsons shot selection, the fouls beyond the three line out to halfcourt, the horrible decision making on the break, the cluelessness in either defense. Just because they made a run doesn't mean theyre not dumb...they are.

Bottom line is this...after all the stupidity, we had the ball and a two point lead in OT and Obekpa inexplicably  tried to throw a long outlet pass in to double coverage that would make Eli Manning proud instead of just handing the ball to Greene. That was the ballgame right there. Not even debatable.

i can take a loss, its part of the game you win some you loose some but loosing like this is what separates us from the upper echelon teams in the country

It was a choke job, but this is not what separates us from the upper echelon.  What separates us is our lousy defense and poor decision making.  Also not great shot selection.  They either aren't a great coached team, or they don't execute or both.   This team is far from an upper echolon team... and I'm a huge fan of theirs.. this is just a fact.

harrsion shooting in the first 10 seconds of the shot clock in a 2 point game with the game under two minutes, up two and chris throws a 45 foot outlet pass, jakarr fouling three point shooter. is all what separates us. we don't make smart moves. our best possession of the to was when we moved the ball got it down to jakaar the double team came and he kicked it out for a greene 3. THATS BASKEBALL!!! we ran the same block to block or elbow to elbow double screen all game against the zone. this team hangs in games like this because of talent not because of iq, smarts, execution or coaching.  those upper echelon teams have a great combination of all the above. we don't. and we also tend to play to level of competition. this is why we struggle to pull away from monmouth, wagner, and long wood. we don't have a consistent level of play however we consistently make poor mistakes. how do we go into the game knowing they only have 2 scorers and they both end up with 25plus? i thought were elite defending team? or were frazier and newbill both lottery picks and we just couldn't stop them because there that damn good.

PSU blew a 15 lead and had a foul at the end of the game if SJU was them you would be saying that was the dumbest team.

They made critical mistakes down the stretch costing them the game that happens a lot.  In fact it is how a lot of close games get decided, 1 team makes a bad mistake.  Happens all the time it is just that you don't root for all teams you root for SJU.

I get it I am mad as well, thought they pulled it out in regulation.  If they are 15-15 at the end of the year with 10 losses by 4 points or less when they led in the second half then you can call them a dumb team.  1 loss to a decent (not great but not bad PSU team) is not evidence of a low IQ team.

Agreed they need to tighten things up.  But relax.

fordham we make runs because were talented, not because were well coached or execute well, thats just the game of basketball. basketball is a game of runs. and we play 15 behind because thats in our dna we don't have a consistent level of play. we fall behind to everyone. i don't think we have to a stop on any team all season on the opening play. its always a 3 or a wide open layup.

I'm sorry, but there aren't positives that come out of this game.  So far, this team has only shown they can beat the likes of Wagner, Bucknell, Monmouth, and Longwood.  It can't beat big conference teams like Wisconsin and Penn State.

And what happens if this team loses to G'Tech tomorrow?  More or less, they will have played a pathetic OOC schedule and lost to every legitimate team on it.  Fantastic start to this breakout season of ours.  This is such a joke.
