Lets see how weather affects turnout.

Tomorrow is snow.  Sunday is supposed to be fine weather.  Doubt it will be a factor at all.

Did you guys get an email from STJ yesterday advertising tickets, I thought this game was sold out?

Is it me or does coach look and sound a lot more subdued then usual. A bit under the weather perhaps. Fighting off a cold or the like ? Tired, with a very important game coming up .

Subdued? He sounds like he's auditioning for the lead in Slingblade.

'Basketball is more like jazz'

'to play a high level of basketball, to be able to jam together, and make jazz'

- SL

I love this coach!

I'm sorry but for whoever shot that video: Have they heard of a tripod? #1 way to make something look super amateur.

@HudsonGiles: This '14 Syracuse zone is much different from years past, and why St. John's can take advantage on Sunday http://t.co/AEsv1JkFxA @nybuckets

I love this coach!

"A jam session is an event ... where musicians play by improvising without extensive preparation or predefined arrangements."

Coach Lavin believes that to play a high level of basketball teams have to avoid preparation. The coach - the one in charge of training the athletes and team - believes that his job is to help them not prepare. He's doing an excellent job so far, mostly they look completely at sea.

Ironic isn't it?  I'm not as hypo-critical as you are Doc.  Give me a basketball coach that brings up jazz twice in one press conference...and I'll be thinking to myself that's some darn good coaching rhetoric.  Misplaced or not.

I have been critical  of the coaching , but last Saturday the way they played was like poetry in motion, not a coincidence.

Another preview from the Cuse perspective.

That article was written by a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMpsttlXye8&feature=related, and I use that word sparingly and only as a way to describe a person w normal intelligence who is too lazy to use any of it.

We still played and shot extremely well offensively.   No way to downplay that.  We looked that way in the second half of Georgia Tech as well.  If you don't think this team practices and prepares, talk to somebody who has seen the practices.  Simply not the case from what I've heard.

Fordham didn't contest one shot that we took. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see that we can make wide open shots, but to beat SU, you have to be incredibly physical, and I haven't seen that yet from us. If a player is about to score inside, we either block the shot, or foul hard. Really hard.

We are the best shotblocking team in the country two years running.  We need to use that to our advantage.  In addition, Cuse wins because they turn teams over.  We don't turn it over much at all.  Need to continue that and Cuse will have a tougher time.
