Bracketology

Win the next three, finish third, and we are in.  Win a game in the B.E.T. for insurance and a better seed.  Win the whole damn things and we are an eight seed.

BE is ranked fourth best conference by RPI. If we finish 3rd and win the BE tournament we will be seeded higher than an 8 seed. Lets win these next three games first though.

Lunardi has us back in the First Four against Tennessee.

Gotta win these next 3.   

I like our chances in the BE tournament, but it'll be a lot of added pressure if they lose one of these games.   Win out, and their spot will be assured.    Then I think they'll be able to play loose and confident in the conference tourny, and watch out.   

If we lose Tues I think we would need to get to the final of BET. 1-5 against top 50 is the problem.
A win Tues and I think we can split the final 2 games and it would not hurt us as much as losing Tues would.

3 of the next 4 we are in.  As long as that loss isn't vs DePaul...

Minnesota with HUGE win for them last night vs. #20 Iowa.

We are going to Dayton with a 12/12 game against Minnesota...

Lets not forget that the bubble will probably shrink by 1 or 2 bids due to surprise conference tournament champions. Happens every year

Although the loss last night was rough.

The season is not over yet, if we can get 4 more wins, I think we have a good shot. If we get 3 more wins, I think we have a 40% chance of getting in. If one of those wins is against either Nova or Creighton that would increase the chances that much more.

Hopefully this Depaul game will be similar to the Colombia game, in that it should be an easy win, and one to get us back on track before the big road finale.

We certainly have lucked out.  Nc State, Cal, Baylor, Tennessee, Stanford, Richmond, Nebraska and West Virginia all lost yesterday after Clemson, Dayton and Missouri lost the day before.  That's about as good as we could have hoped for.  I still think we need to win 4, but a few more days like this and 3 wins might do it.

That's why they're all on the bubble...like us.....on any given night they could win or lose....like most college basketball teams....even most good college basketball teams.....with coaches with long term contracts...which our coach no longer has.....Virginia went to NIT last year....look how good they are this year....

I have to give credit to Jack Williams on Redmen who posted this 2 or 3 days ago.  Take a look when comparing ourselves to others vs. Top 50.  He found it on Holy Land of Hoops I believe.

You're acting like 1-5 vs top 25 is a deal breaker for an at large bid. How many wins do you think teams ranked in the 40's and 50's are getting against the top 25? Here's sample of the teams St. John's is competing against of an at -large bid and what their record is against the top 25:

Everyone has 1 or 2 wins vs the top 25. Pitt is 0-6! I guess their chances for a bid are shot, right? St. John's is 6-4 vs the rest of the top 100. It's not like they haven't beaten anyone any good. BTW, St. John's has as many wins vs the top 25 as Wichita State. If only one win vs the top 25 doesn't rule a team out for a 1-seed, why should it rule a team out for an at-large bid?

Exactly, nothing is for certain....that's why they play the games.  No one is entitled to anything.
