My big question is why didnt Sanchez grab that ball? On the replay he had 2+ feet left before he went out of bounds. At least he touched it but Jesus, it is never easy with this team.

- I was sitting right on the end line on that side of the court so I had a good view.  No way DR could have saved it.  Rare very heady play by us to knock it out so SH inbounds 94 feet away rather right under the basket with 4 secs. left.

- Highlight reel stuff from N Deliliah.  Alley oop dunk and a Postell like offensive rebound, roundhouse, tomahawk jam that brought the house down.  Nasty!

- Hollywood worked hard trying not to repeat the Providence debacle with all sorts of personnel swapping late.  Alas, it backfired on the final possession when after subbing in Double G for the Aggie to rebound a potential FT miss,  was unable to get the Aggie back on for the crucial inbounds play as no time had ticked off the clock.  At least King Crimson wasn't stuck with the inbound in the middle of a double team.

- In addition to the Truth,  Billy Singleton was in the house.  Coach Lou, ever the gentleman,  graciously signed an autograph for Carmine Jr.

- Jake Gibbs is quick as heck and darn near impossible to keep out of the lane.  Rhombus, Sir with no love and the Aggie all struggled mightily attempting with little success to stay between him and the basket.

On the replay It looked like he very well could have caught that ball, he had no reason not to try.

He burned 2 timeouts in the final 52 seconds and didnt have one in his pocket for that last inbounds.  Really poor job again.

He used four time outs in the final 52 seconds, the first two back to back. It was 76-70 when he started calling them and 76-75 when he was through. That's some mighty fine coaching right there.

Probably because he spews so much hot air it takes him awhile to get to his point (if he has one) in those huddles.   Hence the back-to-back timeouts we see every game.

I know, crazy, right?   I mean, he missed 3 out of 4 FT during that time as well.....oh wait.

Boo, no one's blaming him for missed three throws!   I'm really glad we won.
But we're talking about a specific thing here..  tell me you thought it was smart to call back to back time outs, twice! in those situations?

That aside, it was nice to simply get a win again.   And Lavin did a much better job with personnel in this game, I thought.  For one, my buddy JBranch got his due finally.  23mins seems about right for him every game, Jordan still got 30, and Phil 15.
Also, he managed the foul situation for the bigs as best he could.

Missing the FTs would be a reason why the score went from 76-70 to 76-75 though, no?  Which, is what I was responding to,  hence the quotes.

As much as I criticize SL's coaching, I must say there were several instances down the stretch where players rushed poor shots, instead of getting ball to a guard and resetting.  SH fan next to me noted kindly, "You guys seem talented, but certainly don't play smart". Can't argue with that.

Lets be honest, the only thing that happened after the two timeouts was a missed Oliver 3, which Gift couldn't grab rebound and Edwin got an "and 1"... then Gibbs hit a couple of free throws after we missed 3 out of 4.    Make our foul shots and it doesn't matter.. game is over.

You are free to think that stopping the clock 4 times with the lead under a minute is a good idea. You are free to think that an effective time out results in the team that called the time out not being able to inbound the ball or play defense without fouling the other team to stop the clock yet again and allow them to shoot free throws. Just as I am free to think you have little idea what you're talking about.

I notice about you that when you whine about the basketball you find your own whining completely rational and appropriate. But when other people whine about the basketball they're being immature and it's your role to disabuse them of their immaturity. I'd suggest that you look in the mirror but suspect that you spend enough time doing that already.

Got me.   I'm as vain as they come.

I noticed when you are proven wrong you resort to insults and long winded posts...

What I wrote was facts. The reason the score got down to one was because of missed FT, not the timeouts.

Playing our best players and not playing are worst ones seemed like good strategy .

I was 4 rows up near seton hall bench - Williard is a maniac.  Ripped his kids regularly.

I thought Lavin did a nice job tonight besides the use of timeouts.  Would have thought he learned a lesson from Providence and saved one for the bothced inbounds at the end.  Has shortened the rotation a bit (no more hooper - thankfully) .

Basketball IQ of this team is madening at times (Dom, Sanchez and Obekpa).

I actually thought Lavin had a above average night. He shorten the rotation to 8, made a great call fouling w 5 seconds left so SH couldnt dagger us with a 3 to tie. Still needs someone to help him with TO's tho.

I think this is what most of us would call a "coach", actually.  Ours was justifying Doms decision to throw the inbounds pass the length of the floor out of bounds as a "smart one".

While it isn't the greatest play by any stretch...As a last resort, with no timeouts ( yes, we should have saved one),  what other play is there?

Either a 5 second call or turnover under our own basket is a disaster scenario.

In all seriousness,  aren't they taught to do exactly that?  Obviously not throw it out of bounds without anyone touching it, but get the ball as far away from hoop as possible?

I was kind've surprised dom didn't throw it off the defenders leg, that's his go-to move when we're having trouble inbounding the ball.

In all seriousness though, it wasn't a terrible play.   In some ways it could even be considered a smart thing to do.
