Your narrative conveniently begins at our 17 point lead... Personally, I'm shocked.  I've already explained my thoughts on the SH comeback, no need to rehash..  Might as well focus on the positive , though, right?  I  mean, we do want them to win and play good.

Yes,  getting the large lead during that stretch in  the 2nd half was as good as this team has played all season.  Is it that much of a stretch?  In case you missed it, we haven't been very good this season.... Thought you were on top of these things?

So, your point is that the team still sucks..   Got it..

I agree up until we got tight at around the 6 minute mark, it was the best we played all season.
See that is what is wrong with people. If the team does poorly and Lavin does crazy things he should get criticized. Heck even if they win he is fair game. Team was 0-5, looked good for most of the game, hopefully we can build off it. I was more encouraged than not.

I like Dom as a player. But ball skills aren't his strength . Why not let Sanchez inbound the ball. Up a few points with 5 seconds dom belongs in the bench

Lavin is never going to be a great coach so I don't see the point of nitpicking after a win. I am happy as long as he doesn't pull any crazy stunts. Again I am a fan of fouling when up three and most coaches are afraid to do.

I agree. His use of timeouts and his rotations are incredibly hard to understand. BUT, I agree with fouling up 3. Jarvis should have, too.

Exactly.. He isn't capable of making it through an entire game without at least one head scratching moment....but he did fine last night.

Sanchez was running full speed, extended his arm, ticked the ball with his finger tips about one foot from out of bounds. I agree he should have caught it-IF HE WAS THE GREATEST ATHELETE IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD! Why didn't he just dunk it while he was at it? Is he just stupid?   ::)

While it isn't the greatest play by any stretch...As a last resort, with no timeouts ( yes, we should have saved one),  what other play is there?

Either a 5 second call or turnover under our own basket is a disaster scenario.

In all seriousness,  aren't they taught to do exactly that?  Obviously not throw it out of bounds without anyone touching it, but get the ball as far away from hoop as possible?

I was kind've surprised dom didn't throw it off the defenders leg, that's his go-to move when we're having trouble inbounding the ball.

In all seriousness though, it wasn't a terrible play.   In some ways it could even be considered a smart thing to do.

He had guys open and didn't get it to them.  It shouldn't have come to that is the point.  I'm sorry but praising him for not being able to get the ball in when we had guys he could get it too is an awful rationalization mentality from a coach.  He's a junior.  He's gotta deliver the ball on time in that spot PERIOD.

Your version of guys being open, and his version, on the court at game speed, might be two completely different things. It seems to me like he made the right choice.

Also, did we win the flipping championship yesterday?!?!  We blow a 16 point lead at home against a lower tier team and we go crazy.  Dude, we are 1-5 and looked terrible in the last 5 minutes.  This program has really fallen...

Cutting the rotation to eight guys is a smart move. And I feel like its the right eight kids.

Now Obekpa, last two games: 10 fouls, three blocks, zero points

They need to figure out whats wrong with him.

I am looking at the play right now, paused right before sanchez touched the ball. He is still two inches from the block, thats 5+ feet from the baseline. Why not attempt to grab it is all I am saying, worst comes to worst he runs out of bounds with the ball.  If I knew how to upload pictures I would, so I could show it to you and be absolutely amazed at such an extraordinary event.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Would it be reasonable or appropriate to question why Pointer was the person in-bounding the ball as opposed to somebody else?

Probably because they wanted Dlo and Branch to be the ones trying to get open as they are smaller and quicker.

Scott Burrell should have inbounded the ball to Tate George

That's not a smart move. It's the only move. The guys who played yesterday are the guys who should have played the whole season .

I just watched the replay of the game. There was an open man , I think it was Sheed, Dom just hesitated.

We doubled their assist total (17-8) and had only 11 turnovers to their 18.  You can't knock Coach for this game.

The guys freeze up in the closing minutes...no surprise when they are 0-5 in the season with four collapses in the final minutes.  The confidence level was as low as ever, and hopefully this is something they can build on .  The 0-for is gone in conference play and they have a two game winning streak.  The monkey might be off their backs!

FWIW, Dom should never be in the game in that situation let alone playing any kind of decision-making role.  Lavin's misplaced trust in Dom and in Dom's abilities are his greatest weakness as coach of St. John's.  He's an athletic wing with poor skills, utilize him properly for the love of God!!!

As much as I criticize SL's coaching, I must say there were several instances down the stretch where players rushed poor shots, instead of getting ball to a guard and resetting.  SH fan next to me noted kindly, "You guys seem talented, but certainly don't play smart". Can't argue with that.

Paultz,  talk about lack of smarts -  100 SH students loudly showed up with 10 minutes to left on the clock.   They thought the game was at MSG.
