Almost like they knew CO would wander into the lane to go for the block.  Great play call by Creighton.

Another lavin coaching blunder. Obekpa has to be guarding the inbound pass and Sampson has to be on Doug. There's just no excuse for that
That is not on Lavin!!

If we had won a couple of those other close games it would have made this one a bit easier to swallow.  Great comeback by the team but moral victories aren't ok anymore.  Arggghhh!

We got #$%^ed on the last two calls.  McDermott hooked his man.  Then rysheed gets a bogus charge.  Its game.  It was our game.  Refs #$%^ed us in this one.

Hit a outside 3pt shot like that you can't blame the refs...

The Rysheed charge was criminal. That was a 4 pt. swing.

Despite that the gam was tied...it's like the 49ers blaming the blown fumble call on why they lost the game. The got the ball back and scored and had a chance to win the game. Te 49ers blew the game not the refs...this game should have went into OT...

Agree.  I didn't see the first half, but from what I saw down the stretch this loss is not on Lavin.   And certainly McDermott's last shot isn't coach's fault.   CO just floated too far away and got beat under a screen.   Also, the kid is f&*king good.   Real good.   Special players make big shots.   We literally couldn't have picked a better shooter anywhere in the country to take the final shot against us.

Creighton had a season high in TOs, and were 20pts below on their average scoring and average victory. SJU did a lot of this right but score and have a player become the leader to take control of this game. Jordan wa clutch but where is Harrison or Sampson down the stretch...Coachig blunders and all it was missed shot overall not coaching that cost us the game...

The refs weren't great but they didn't cost us the game. We can't go 8 minutes without a field goal in the 2nd half against these guys. We can't miss big free throws down the stretch and we can't give MCD that much space

Yes they did cost us the game.  We were tied.  Then McDermott made an amazingly egregious offensive foul.  Then they called an amazingly egregious phantom offensive foul on Rysheed.  THAT was the game and should have been our win...  Sorry, but it was entirely the refs.  Should have been tie game with our possession after the McDermott hook which was without question a foul.  At worst, it was a Rysheed basket after that, not a charge.

Sampson should have been on McD, not Obekpa.

Another heart breaker. Love the fight, disappointed by the result. Wouldn't be so bad if we didn't have so much ground to make up. Time for us to get on a roll though, starting with Marquette

There are no moral victories.  There are no excuses.  We didn't make the winning plays down the stretch.  Period.

Obekpa blew a defensive assignment (or at least i HOPE it was his assignment).  We couldn't switch a screen against McDermott because Obekpa helped off of him during the first 4 second of the defensive possession.  He dove into the lane when he should've had McDermott tagged.  Watch from the 0 to 4 second mark:

Doug McDermott three

This team didn't make the winning play and lost the game.  Period, end of discussion

Heartbreaking loss but, the game was lost when they got a 18 point lead ..

A great comeback but, again a defensive breakdown on the last play, when everyone in AMERICA knows Doug is getting the ball..Obepka lost his man, the one guy you don't want shooting the last shot.

One more big game opportunity lost. Very tough.

Not one to blame refs, but agree with MCN. Those were two critical plays, the McD hook  & Jordan charge. You see that too often on the road. Sad!

I agree with you that both calls were bad, but when you let a team get up on you by 18 you leave yourself with zero room for error.  Make a few more free throws, and we win the game.

Paultz, there's no way to argue this one.  We had this game.  McDermott made the most obvious hook I've ever seen.  Then they took he game away with the Rysheed phantom charge.  It's amazing.  It wasn't close to a charge...

it is beyond me how we leave the kid who ended with 39 out of 63points wide open with the game tied under 10 seconds.. what the hell its either these kids have a hard time processing assignments or there was real bad coaching there. how in the world dont you let any other guy in the gym besides MCD beat us. im sorry i think the guys are to blame on that one. i cant imagin elavin didnt stress a million and one times in the huddle that any body but MCD beats us. that was horrible.

It was Obekpa. He got block happy. Thought the PG was gonna drive so he cheated into the lane. He was assigned to Doug

True but D'lo deserves some of the blame as well. It was his man who set the screen on CO, which I felt was a offensive foul by the way, he was completely oblivious out there on that play. We were switching on screens all game.

Not at all.  It never came down to free throws.  We win if not for two horrible calls at the end.  I'd take it if it came down to free throws..  It didn't...

Stepping back from emotion of heartbreaker, what will always hurt us is most of our scoring comes from steals or turnovers. Our abysmal outside shooting & half court offense results in droughts which put us behind eight ball. It is what it is, but quite a handicap for sure.

If they did call the hook, maybe Jordan's play doesn't happen either.
